Iran earthquakes kills dozens in Tabriz region

www.bbc.co.uk

Two strong earthquakes have struck north-western Iran, leaving at least 40 people dead and hundreds more injured, officials say.

The quakes struck near the city of Tabriz and the town of Ahar, but most of the casualties are thought to be in outlying villages.

Reports say phone lines to many villages have been cut off, making rescue efforts harder.

The US Geological Service measured the quakes at magnitude 6.4 and 6.3.

There are several large faults that run under Iran and the surrounding area. Historically Earthquakes in the area happen in swarms too so don't be too surprised if over the coming days there are some significant aftershocks of above 5 or so.

Here's a link to the USGS website for live earthquake data

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Israel did launch a strike on Iran in the aftermath of a major natural disaster, such is the nature of the Israeli government.

Battlefield 3 shows Iran, during the Iranian war, go through multiple earthquakes when roaming the city-side.

I said in an earlier thread that if the Israelis attacked, world opinion would be set against them. The U.S. couldn't be seen as helping them especially before the election.

I wasn´t speaking in terms of military drones, just the drones that post their skewed logic on ATS
, but I wholeheartedly agree with you. Israels MO is to attack the weakest.

Feel bad for the people - with 2 strong
quakes aftershocks might bring more
casualities and damage to structures.

I feel bad for them too. With initial #'s in the 6's, the aftershocks could be large also. There are lots of small villages that would be hard to get too. I heard their communication is down, which will make it harder to help. My thoughts go out to them.

Sounds nasty,87 at least dead...
Many injured.

Right up in the north east corner of Iran, probably very poor infrastructure in terms of earthquake protection.

Very sad for those bereaved families IMO.

Could be the start of events that lead to world war III. Let's see if there Iran retaliates if they find enough evidence of HAARP being used on them.

Is it any coincidence that this earthquake happened on 8/11/ similar to the Japan Earthquake of 3/11/2011 ?

Funny it was you pro Iranian people who claim that pro Israel folks would be on here slinging mud first, who first used the tragedy as an opportunity to bash the opposition...dispicable
Hypocrisy much?

Tabriz has a history of earthquakes but this is conveniently timed with whats going on in Aleppo and taking out that path as an escape route for refugees as well. It was just yesterday I believe that Iran announced they supported Assad's regime to the fullest. Depending on what the powers that be have up they're sleeves and agreed, with Israel's history blocking that route would be very strategic.. on the part of the earthquake of course.

Edit: Hit the escape route with HAARP and save the bombs for Tehran.. Mess with China's money to much and the domino effect has begun.

Your vitriol and hate is indicative of the hypocrisy you use to justify yourselves.....

Youre using this tragedy to capitalize on your hate for Israel, all the while accusing their supporters of doing it...

Not only that, your making personal attacks against me.....

Your time on ATS will be short if this is your method...........

I recommend some inward reflection
