A veteran Dallas police sergeant is under investigation after two lesbian officers complained that he brought a Chick-fil-A sandwich to work – and made comments they alleged were inappropriate......Sgt. Mark Johnson, a 12-year veteran of the police force is accused of placing the sandwich bag in front of the two lesbian officers and making comments they found offensive.

This is beyond ridiculous! A 12-year veteran cop, reading a bulletin about a counter protest, and having the food for lunch, is moved to an overnight shift at a jail, all because a couple of lesbians got offended that he ate in front of them, and was "looking at them" while reading a bulletin, which is part of his job? Gee, the thought police are alive and well, and apparently cops aren't allowed to have opinions, or food that certain people don't approve. This makes me sick!
A baseless accusation can cause you issues now.....

So this has nothing to do with where he ate. He allegedly made inappropriate comments to two lesbian COPS.
I'm sure the truth will come out and I think that we need to put this Chic-fil-a crap to rest. It's a dumb topic and was blown completely out of proportion.

The article says it was 'unclear what was said' that was supposedly offensive. That could make a difference if it was a joke in poor taste or something meant to be offensive or mean.
At my work some gay people and straight people have been joking together in harmony about the whole thing and how dramatic it became.
I'd like to stage a sit in to protest how tired I am of hearing about Chik-Fil-A

How is this the "thought police"?
He was not disciplined for what he was thinking, it was something he said. There is a huge difference.
