There is a love from God that comes by faith, it is impossible to explain but only when you can fully grasp the love from God that you can see the absolute truth which is love.

Faith...there's that woo-woo word again. "I have a very good reason to lie to myself, and the reasons you have given me for being honest with myself aren't good enough."

I prefer rationality to faith, because I'd rather live a painful truth than a convenient lie.

Ok here it is said rationally. If you pursue love you will find it. Can we at least agree that you have the power to find love if you truly pursue it? To me this sounds logical and rational.

Here is where the faith lies.

A crazy man on ATS is telling you that God is love. And making the wild claim that if you pursue love and find it you will also find God.

Mathew 7:8

For everyone who asks for love receives love, he who seeks love finds love, he who knocks on the door to love the door will be opened.

"For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

John 14:123-24

Love replied, anyone who loves Love will obey love. Love will love them and Love will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love Love will not obey Love. These are not my words but belong to the LOVE that sent me.

Love replied all who love pursue love. Pursue love and you will find love. Love will make its dwelling place in your heart. Anyone who does not love, love will not dwell within you. This is what love told me to say.

23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

Can you see that the verses make more since, not less like you would imagine when you substitute the word love? I challenge you change every mention of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit in the NT to love, if God is not love then this should create chaos but it doesn't. Changing to the word love clarifies the meaning, so this to must be from Love, God.

If you can grasp that God is the ultimate spiritual realization and that realization is love, you can begin to imagine how you could be "like him".

It sounds logical and rational if love weren't a completely subjective emotion. Can you describe red to a man who has never seen it and never can? That's what love is like. You don't look for it, you don't find it, you realize what it means to you. You are able to discern its existence rather than find where it exists. Similar to a needle in a haystack. Just because you couldn't see the needle before,m doesn't mean it just materialized there. It means your understanding wasn't comprehensive enough - or that you have mediocre eyesight.

Love is not absolute. I don't think you understand what absolute means. Love is not absolute because it doesn't have a universal value. Its value is determined according to the observer, which is the definition of subjective. If that weren't the case, then even the most vicious cold-hearted killer would know love. Not everyone knows love, therefore love is not absolute.
