PS. I don't see this one in the Blue Book Unknowns.

The sighting isn't listed at all. It looks to me like Mr Hawk wasn't being completely honest with the reporter.

So any sighting not listed in the Bluebook files never happened? Or was not reported to the Air Force? I hope that's not really your position here, because that's pretty easy to refute. You may want to re-read the most reliable descriptions of Blue Book's activities and working environment as of early- to mid-1952. See Ruppelt's "Report on UFOs" at ~120-140, for example... which is probably one of the top 5 UFO books of all time, and definitely one you should've read by now given the frequency of your comments on a UFO forum. I'd think a little basic research is the least you could do before casually calling someone a liar. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh, but for all we know that man's grandchildren are reading this thread right now, and they probably deserve a little more than the carelessness and tastelessness you just offered up regarding their "pop-pop."

Let's not ever forget that these witnesses are real people. Not unlike those found in anyone's family....

If you look at the broadside of a cylindrical object from a great distance away it looks like a rectangle. What does not make sense about that statement?

That's always a possibility, cripmeister. I also wondered why I couldn't find any record of this report in the Project Blue Book Archive, but I'm not sure your conclusion is necessarily warranted. There could be other reasons for the report's absence from the publicly released Blue Book files.
