Moderate Islam is peace. Just like moderate Christianity is peace. It's when you find the self-righteous who are determined to save the world (path paved with good intentions) that all hell breaks loose.

Exactly, thats the point of it that many Christians miss.

We are all in the same boat, we are all flawed.

No one sin is worse than any other, and can be forgiven freely.

I don’t like the use of the word sin. We are all flawed and make choices that aren’t always the best and sometimes we are ruled by our emotions for good of for bad. There are crimes. Murder is worse than stealing. But, for example, to say that being gay is a sin perpetuates ignorance. There are a lot of Christians who are more accepting and will say that don’t judge gays because we are all sinners or something equivalent. I know their heart is in the right place, but no. How is gay love a sin? So let say that a gay man has been with only one person his whole life, would that still be a sin? This is why I don’t like the use of the word sin. It is an idea that has brought a lot justification of evil in this world. No, we are all human beings with the same hurts, pains, loves, mistakes etc. There are so many other horrific fights to fight in this world. Like human trafficking and genocide. No, a gay person is NOT a sinner like you and me. A gay person is just a human being just like you and me. Now let us go and fight the real criminals of the world.

I didn't understand a single word you posted. Can you tone down the accusation and dilute the self-righteousness a tad? Then resubmit and see if it's coherent?

Why is the old testament coupled with the old if itsn't relevent. I thought the bible was God's word? Isn't that the argument when reminded that the bible was written by man? "But it's God inspired." How convenient. Pick and choose your beliefs - these type of believers are the worst and most bigoted.

Galatians 3:19-29 (New International Version)

Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.

Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The above is talking about about what the purpose the old law and the new law or The Old Testament and The New Testament was. The old testament is relevant and it did serve a purpose.

The law = (The Old Testament)
The Faith = (The New Testament)

"The Message" translation sums it up quite well:

Until the time when we were mature enough to respond freely in faith to the living God, we were carefully surrounded and protected by the Mosaic law. The law was like those Greek tutors, with which you are familiar, who escort children to school and protect them from danger or distraction, making sure the children will really get to the place they set out for.

We only represent ourselves. Do not labor under the impression that you are anything of a mouthpiece for higher dimensional beings. If they have something to say, and desire to make it known to the people of our world, they have much better ways than deluded "light-seekers" who think they have their own private channel into the workings of the higher planes.

You represent yourself, and none other. If you believe you are even capable of speaking for higher beings, let alone have the right to, then you are sorely mistaken. None of us knows anything about them, beyond the fact that they are clearly much more powerful than us...for you to say that you speak for them, is laughable at best.

It's ABSOLUTELY relevant because if Jesus IS the god from the Old Testament incarnate (Yahweh), then the OP is right. If they are both one in the same, then Jesus was Yahweh (Murderer, jealous, angry, immature), and Yahweh was Jesus.

So, your argument is irrelevant.

Man, I've always wanted to say that at the right time.

Seems this got over looked, so I thought I would post it again. I never get a reply to that argument anyways... Who WOULD admit that they worship a murderer???

Christians themselves are torn by doctrinal questions, a few of which are contained in your post. There are things you need to understand b4 you can even begin to discuss the issues brought up by the verses you quoted. (One of my personal favourites is what Bible did you get that from?)

So you may or may not want to consider things like;

What's the pale of orthodoxy?
Who is a Christian and who isn't and why do people think that?
Is Paul talking about women speaking at all in the Church or is he talking about women speaking in tongues in the Church?
It was the practice to stone a woman caught in adultery to death yet when they brought one to Jesus he let her go. Why?
What did Jesus mean when he said He was the fulfilment of the law?

The work that has gone into questions like this could easily fill up library so to just randomly pull out verses and start saying see, I told you so is absurd.

I'm sorry... I didn't get to the end of this thread yet... but I keep reading "The Old Testament is/was only applicable to Jews" or something similar. I come from a Baptist background, and have never, ever heard such in my life!!! Can someone please post a verse from the bible that states such?

Otherwise, I'll keep thinking the way I've always been taught... meaning the Old Testament is/was meant to be followed by all Christians... not a few select people that were somehow God's chosen people until God's son "Jesus" basically said "Dad... you're wrong so I'm going to change everything so that all people are the chosen people". Anyone else notice that Lucifer was kicked out of heaven for that? But somehow Jesus got away with it... according to what I've been reading for 7 pages so far.

The veil was torn and all men/women could come directly to God and Jesus without the need of a priest or a church. God saw that man was unable to keep the laws (JEWISH) and sent his son to pay for all past and future sins of mankind.

Bottom line is....

DONT JUDGE ME, UNLESS YOU, YOURSELF ARE PERFECT!

This should apply to anyone and everyone.

Any person who follows Jesus should abide by his teachings.

He taught LOVE. He taught to love everyone as yourself.

His teachings are cherry picked... And perverted to point of absolute hate!

I will love you if....

That dont cut it!!

Plain and simple are His teachings and its a shame the people who call themselves Christian forget about this every single day when they judge another for not believing just like their church or them personally believe and furthermore this is the reason why I no longer call myself a Christian. I do NOT want to be a part of a group who cannot decide which teachings we should keep, which to toss out? A group that tells others they must do this and that to be saved LIKE ME, like im some God who knows whats what.

Its ridiculous and I for one am sick of it.

Anything other than love put out to another.... causes war....

Jesus was ALL about PEACE!

Live and Love others..... No hate, no judging, just loving. :-)

I'm a Christian and the thing that bothers me about most other Christians is that they blindly believe everything in the Bible. People forget that, who wrote the Bible? MEN, everything in the Bible is bias because over the years MEN have picked and chose what they want in it, and out of it. You have to find the truth in there somewhere.

Why do you need Jesus in order to live a good life? Don't you have your own moral code? Would you still follow him and all of his lessons if doing that meant you would go to hell?

Yup, the hypocrisy is rather astounding....

In matters of religion it's totally acceptable to pick and choose those biblical passages that confirm your argument or prejudice and to refuse to even acknowledge those that make a mockery of most of what the bible pronounces as rules to live by....

Oh well, such is our freedom of choice, free will if you may, in deciding just how hypocritical we shall be or act !

Here is another perception.... Mine. :-)

I see it like this...

We hovered the Earth and saw it was beautiful. We wanted to inhabit this Planet and in doing so had laws to govern by.

Our Father allowed us to come and play with a veil all the while knowing it was risky.

We do not die in this scenario... Only transform.

So.... We came.... And when Adam ( jesus) ate the fruit before he was ready.... It changed the game up a little.

Our Daddy was pissed!

The killing in the OT was not about taking a life of one of his kids... It was about daddy being pissed and getting his kid home right then and there. So he did. We see it as omg he killed an entire city. No... He just brought them home to show what not to do and what they should be doing, hence reincarnation began.

Reincarnation was now a must because we obtained the knowledge before we were ready. We now have many lives to get our soul where we want it to be..... We have an eternity but not for Earth. Because we are in a plane with " time".... There is a time limit for when we will no longer be able to evolve or reincarnate.

Jesus being the son of man has incarnated many times.... He was Adam. :-) he died on the cross just to make it right.... Symbolic.... And showed the way of spiritual evolution. Jesus is the evolved spirit we are to obtain. This is why he is the way to ever lasting life ( evolved spirit that no longer needs to reincarnate).

This is also why we all will see him when we die..... He is our mentor, brother and exactly what we are trying to achieve here in this school we call Earth.

History always repeats itself. There are now many souls ( over seven billion) and it is coming to a head. Wars, crazy climate, diseases, famine..... All for what!? Because we still do not get " the way". We are still clueless as to how we handle the knowledge we have obtained. We use the knowledge for our own personal gain... Not for our brother or sister but for greed.

I'm not sure what you're getting at. The bible was not written by any God(s) or other supernatural thing. It was written by man. Period. It was written at different times by several different men, and the fictional stories within the bible had taken place several hundreds of years earlier. That's why it's choppy at some places and contradictory in others. Even the voice of the writers are clearly different It was used and still is used to control people. It's a quite clever too.

Also, let say there is a God. Why would a loving God burn any of his children forever and ever. I'm as flawed a human being as anyone. Imperfect in all my ways, yet I would not condemn my own child to a hell of torment. It's contradictory even at it's core.
