Ben Swann looks at a new report that the U.S. Government is funding the opposition in Syria including al Qaeda fighters.

Seems, strange doesn't it. Surely the last thing the west would want is Al Qaeda getting it's hands on Syria's Chemical weapons?

There are clearly no good guys in this conflict from Assad to the Rebels, just seems we are choosing to portray the Rebels as freedom fighters, when known terrorist groups are operating along side them. 10% of the population are Christians, many of whom are leaving for fear of what will happen if the rebels take over, not much mention of them in the western reporting.

They are enemies, when it fits an agenda, allies when it suits an agenda. You would think they would wise up and see that they are being used left and right.....

We all know that the Government has been funding the mujahedin since the Russian invasion of Afghanistan in the 80's.What I find funny is how the msn uses the term "freedom fighters." or "rebels." to describe them when most people know that what they really are.US-backed mercs.

If this thread doesn't get many replies it's because people are overwhelmed by it.
The only thing I can think on this is:

Insane. Insane. Insane.

Agreed. But this needs more attention. Swann does a good job of summing things up in this vid and it makes for a good truth primer for those who need things dumbed down to some extent. S&F for OP and Ben Swann

Love it.

"When Senator John McCain co-wrote the NDAA, and President Obama signed it into law, they crafted a law that gave the President the authority to use all necessary and appropriate means during the current armed conflict with Al Qaeda and the Taliban and associated forces, including the power to indefinitely detain anyone supporting Al Qaeda, which in this case, is the President and members of Congress"

Get 'em, Ben.

I'm surprised there aren't more replies here.
Although to many of us on ATS this news comes as no surprise, the same thing happened recently in Libya; the U.S Nato commander even admitted that the libyan rebels contained fighters belonging to a faction of Al Qaeda, some of whom had previously been fighting against western troops in Afghanistan.

It's not shocking because most people in the know understand the history implicit in the Afghan / Russian conflicts that led to the birth of Al Qaeda. The world didn't stop when an old man said he couldn't remember anything about Iran-Contra... this will get even less hype because it's just a rerun of the same-old, same-old.

Personally I figure if a Politician is talking, he/she is lying. Governments like us confused.

As long as the money is right, they do as they are told.
