I've gone to look at the actual study. They put a lot of thought into it and offer sufficient analysis of the data.
One aspect of meeting ET that has yet to be covered is how mental are they?

By that I'm referring to many accounts over the years that I've read about and my own personal experience that cite if not detail that ETs have incredible mental powers of telepathy and mind control that simply defy what most people can accept.

Discussions of those features and the final acceptance of them will have to be topics brought to the public's awareness before any true understanding can be had of the full impact of ET contact will have on the human race. This confrontation will be especially important to those of religious orientations as these attributes border in the neighborhood of being God-like, reserved for God, or the reverse, the "work of the Devil."

I believe in extraterrestrial life, so my belief will be validated

Joke aside, I think that depending on how they look, and in what they believe, most fundamentalist religious people will categorize them as angels or demons, and/or try to convert them.
It's also a possibility that "they" will have a better religion and will convert us all.

Whenever that happens (and I hope it happens sooner) a good thing will be done. People will stop believing soem stupid misidentified texts and copied from Sumerian texts and modified to become a tool of controling the masses, And those who can't stand that their ignorace has finally fallen and that their 'there is no IF, it IS' is actually 'there is no IF, it is NOT'; will commit a suicide.

And the world will become a better place.

O wow i was just about to point that out.. not the post but the fact.

What if.. it works the other way, I'ts been a topic of many sci-fi, a human comes along to a organized alien society.. perfectly in balance with themselves and in unison with their religious beliefs.. and introduces the option of choice.. free will, and the alien society crumbles like a child playing with Jenga.( that tower building game thing)

Just as scary if you ask me.. better they leave us well alone

And to answer the OP's question.. nup, my belief's would be just as strong if not re-afirmed

You didn't understand. I am not religious and I am saying if EBEs come they will shake the foundations of religion and the world will become better without it.

Well meeting aliens would be more awesome and awe inspiring to me then shake any of my beliefs. As for other people with religion, well I can't speak on all their behalves but I think most would rationalize it why there could be aliens and a god, which would be to hard a sell. Hell maybe even some religion try and convert the aliens to their respective religion that would be funny, missionaries going to the planet zog to teach the word of Christ.
