Former Mossad chief and national security adviser Ephraim Halevy was quoted by the New York Times on Thursday saying that if he were Iranian he "would be very fearful of the next 12 weeks".

Halevy also told Israel Radio on Thursday that if the Iranians "continue to play their games" in nuclear talks with world powers, they would be underestimating Israel's resolve.

"[The Iranians'] math is off if they think they have open-ended immunity" in these talks, he said.

His remarks came just after U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta's visit to Israel, and amid circulating speculations of possible Israeli plans to strike Iran over its contentious nuclear program.

Panetta's visit coincided with an executive order by U.S. President Barack Obama to increase sanctions against Iran, targeting foreign banks that help Tehran sell its oil.

www.haaretz.com...

This is just looking worse and worse every day. We all know an attack on Iran is imminent, and with the recent happenings in Syria, it looks like many people on ATS were correct about the U.S. using Syria as a stepping stone to invade Iran. Judging by THIS article, although from a not so credible source, Iran knows what is soon going to happen.

I think everyone is fearful at the prospect of war.

The Iranians are fearful of conflict on their soil

The middle east is fearful that the conflict will spread.

Most everyday citizens are fearful for the deaths of other civilians

Hell, even the Israeli and American solider are probably fearful.

War is scary business. Finally, i fear for the future of the planet and the consequences if such a conflict was to be ignited.

Im so sick of the articles coming out, making it look like we (majority of Americans) want war, WE DONT. I have a feeling, this has nothing to do with Irans Nuclear threat, and more to do with (Control). We need to stand together and fight the few who make All our lives terrible

Do not worry, not everyone thinks the average US citizen wants war, I certainly dont. People like to condemn the US when protected by the veil of the internet.

Those who can control and influence one of the most powerful nations on the planet, those are the people i am uncertain about. Unfortunately some people are ignorant enough to lump everyone together.

There are worrying reports in this regard, it's tue. Just yesterday, CNN was bragging about how 80% of americans regard Iran as a direct threat. I sincerely hope this is a misleading report.

But would it be surprising if it were true? The mainstream media is spewing this cr#p 24/7 through TV, radio and the web - it is bound to have an impact on the public.

This war is coming, whether we want it or not - but it will up to us to decide to end it and we will, eventually, have to depose the corrupt governments that have brought us to this sad stage of world affairs.

The american citizenry, in particular, will have a sacred duty before the whole of human kind to stand up to the madness of their regime...The American people must wake up to the terrible fact that the US has become an aggressive police state with seeks to dominate the world through force, terror, deceit and coercion.

Americans now are like the Germans of 1939. Many don't support what their government is doing; many more don't know what their government is doing; and even more just don't want to know what their government is doing.

It's time to take off the blinders.

I would say something is coming very soon, but not just because people say it constantly. There is one thing I was watching for ( I am sure everyone was). Months ago Israel was worried their bunker busters wouldn't do the trick. Just recently it was anounced that the new bunker busters were finished and THEN within maybe 48 hours of that anouncement Obama signed that new (was it 60 million?) aid package. I would say it is safe to assume that package had alot if not everything to do with those particular bunker busters.

Too big of a coincidence.

Yes, I just can't believe that most Americans are so dense that they refuse to put this man in office.

80% of Americans feel Iran are a direct threat? CNN wouldn't know what 80% of Americans look like let alone what they think. Is this misleading? Yes. CNN will try to make you believe anything.

LOL, it's true CNN is about as lame duck media as you get.

Still, it gets me nervous to hear them trumpet this as fact.

I agree, the more the MSM spews this disinfo, the more people will start to believe it. It is terrible that they are allowed, and sometimes forced, by the government to spread this propaganda.

Kastogere, your are BAD...

This is not a cage match.

Wars are contests of wits, strength and honor between civilized nations. Indeed, wars are the utltimate reflection of our own morality...

they are not trivial - they are glorious [/sarcasm ends].

(Btw, just caught a glimpse avatar - it's mean...and funny.)

I can certainly say that most americans don't even really want to get involved with whats going on over there. After the last 11 years, the majority of us just want our troops home and want to get our own country back on track. we are spending billions of dollars over seas on other people and limiting the educational and healthcare budgets here. We all know that if israel attacks iran, we will get dragged into it, on the count of our government pledging unwavering support for israel.

Ron Paul has the right idea. Maybe the US should become an Isolationist state....

Honestly there's nothing we can do to stop grown adults from acting like children on the playground who got pushed off the swing.

One awesome trait of a psycho though is that they just cant seem to let anything go.....kind of like America....

ISometimes it isn't even the disinfo. Some of the things they are reporting may of happened, but most of the time it is biased and leads the viewer to believe in something which may not be 100% correct.

To me an example is when they say 'an activist says' or 'this report cannot be verified'. It doesn't matter, the report will impact the viewer either way and most of the time it is to run down someone they want you too hate. They will use their words precisely to make you think the way they want you too whether an activist said, it cannot be verified or it is just a load of BS they made up....

War takes many forms....the success of violent video games (Halo, etc...), violent movies, love and worship of sports (which uses the language of war), etc...might suggest otherwise...and all those people building those weapons of war and those who support the related industries...

I have to agree with you here. How exactly can the US fix the world's problems when everything is crumbling at home?

I'm pretty sure most Americans just want our economy fixed, jobs to go to, and homes to live in. I believe most of us just want to be left alone and really don't care about what happens in other countries as long as it doesn't affect us here.
