As much as I hate to say it the man has a very valid point. The article is also misleading. I didn't hear him defending pedophiles, I heard him asking for a sane rational evaluation of the facts. And in principle he is correct, when stories like this surface the public is pretty quick to break out the torches and pitchforks fueled by the media. We as a society need to stop this behavior, it isnt serving justice and eventually it will get us burned badly.

if paterno had reported it back in 1998 to the police when he first heard of it, how many kids WOULD NOT have been raped. c'mon, he was paid millions each years to coach football, he didn't coach out of the goodness of his heart...it was a game of entertainment that fed paternos ego with a win/loss record. penn states punishment?...they have to concentrate on educating kids, instead of making hundreds of millions off the backs of unpaid student atheletes. wow, what a concept!!

Not a good move for Santorum . He seems to be covering his ass(no pun intended) because he awarded Sandusky with "Angels in Adoption Award" back in 2002. It is also alleged that Santorum used some of "Sandusky's kids" as pages. Not sure about that one....

Santorum would better serve himself by keeping his mouth shut.

Well that is because he is one of them and all his friends are.

Look at who doesn't get mad about this and tried to explain it in a "different " way..

Those are the ones who are in on the sex trafficking ring and who know what is going on.

The people who act like isn't not that bad, are the ones doing it.

Perhaps Santorum isn't familiar with "rhythmic slapping" in the shower.

Who cares anyway. Sandusky will get what is coming to him. Paterno's legacy and that of Penn State's football personnel is tarnished forever. Those who took part in the cover up will not escape their due. Karma is as bitch.

Deny Ignorance? Yeah Right! This was reported by the huffington post and taken from the so-called journalists from thinkprogess. I see nothing but liberal filth in this whole thing...

But...Then again. I have friends who go to Penn State and they love, love, love, both of these people. Sandusky and Paterno. It's sickening and I think that some people are still trying to cope with the facts. They don't want it to be real and they are still trying to find ways to question the information. After all, that's what you guys do on this site isn't it?

I am not defending or supporting anyone here. I am neutral on this topic. But first you have to look at the source the information came from about Santorum, then you have to look at his bias, being a Penn State graduate... It's a whole clusterf*ck of bias!!!!

The guy just looks "off" to me. I don't know what it is. Its like he was purposely put in the place he's in and he knows it. Like a written script.

I've never really followed Santorum anyway. Him, or his politics. His views are a little ludicrous to me.

I know...right? I just thought it was me...he is creepy in a way.

Um, the whole source is Santorums voice?

And you praise Fox News all the time and admit you watch it so you have no room to talk in dissing politicized news sources.

I don't hear any support for Sandusky on this tape.

It sounds more like he's saying that the Penn State Officials may not have been covering up anything.

This seems incredibly biased. No one is supporting pedophiles. I didn't hear that. Listen to the interview and please tell me where or how he is supporting pedophiles.

All he said was he disagreed with the evidence presented? How is that in support of pedophiles?

This is just more lynch mob crap. It's supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, and an accusation is not real evidence.

Except, of course, if you're merely accused of being a pedophile. Then it's guilty no matter what.

Shameful.

A claim and an accusation is not true evidence, it's just hearsay.

Now, when there's real proof, I will be as critical. But I'm not going to jump to conclusions.

McQueary told him he saw Sandusky raping a kid in a shower. Uhhh that's kind of huge to not call the cops.

Ok, well a lot of people did not call the cops. Also, it is not against the law for someone to not call the cops if they did not directly witness a crime. Paterno did not actually see anything happen and it was not his decision to not call the cops. If you read the Freeh report you would know that it was Tim Curly's decision to not call the authorities. At least Paterno took steps to prevent anything like that from happening on the campus ever again. Paterno is the only one in this whole situation that did anything remotely proactive.

WHO CARES. He didn't report the RAPE OF A CHILD. He should be threw under 20 buses.

So what? Lol. There are memorials built to people in America who were responsible for the murder of entire groups of people. That sat by and watched crimes against humanity happen and did nothing. Yet they are still remembered for their great accomplishments. He does not deserve to be treated this way no matter how you want to justify it.

No, he really didn't. Anyone else involved in the scandal should be fired as well.

You're sick that you worship some garbage human being that enabled pedophilia because he was some star coach.
edit on 2-8-2012 by RealSpoke because: (no reason given)

LOL...enable pedophilia. How exactly does one enable pedophilia? Joe Paterno did not make Sandusky like little boys. Im not worshiping anyone. I just refuse to ignore all the good the man did because he made one mistake.

What are you talking about? Lol. Sandusky WAS investigated by the cops in 1998. Also, Paterno did not know anything about that incident.

I am not disagreeing with you on this point. These were horrible events and plenty of blame to go around in the whole matter. My primary concern and agreement with Santorum on this is not on that part of it. It is however on sensationalized stories presented by the media full of assumptions and conjecture, that shows no sign of slowing down. Casey Anthony, Martin/Zimmerman, they even went so low as to say someone drowned Whitney Houston. This is not responsible journalism and is undermining the legal process. Sandusky had his day in court he was found guilty, but that doesn't change the fact the media had already decided he was guilty before the verdict ever came down.

Another verdict media sometimes likes to render is "not guilty".

Too many people nowadays want to call themselves "journalists", but since shame, honor, and integrity have been pushed further away for a long time now in society, we are left too many times with sensationalism, scribes, and poor analysis.

Santorum admitted there was evidence, albeit "thin". Considering the source, I'ld say he was trying to do his best to defend someone he personally knew and the two institutions he was involved with, Penn State and the NCAA (via his alma mater). Although in this case, if I were Rick, I'ld have to do a lot of soul searching if I even thought I needed to offer any defense.

He's raising concerns about the investigation. Far cry from defending the pedophile.

I think Obama is going to win the next election and will do so not because he is a brilliant politician but simply because the opposition are such morons... Or perhaps worse than morons!
