Just give us a chance IF it happens. You are about to get your southern territories expanded as we do like deserts.
THE Government has ruled out basing a United States Navy carrier battle group in Western Australia.
A spokeswoman for Defence Minister Stephen Smith said the US, an alliance partner, had access to Australian facilities plus joint facilities such as Pine Gap.
"But a US base to service a carrier battle group or home-porting here is not in contemplation," she said.

Where the hell are they getting those statistics? I don't remember answering a survey, nor do I know any Aussie that has. What a load of complete and utter nonsense. If this had have suggested that "87% of Australians DO NOT WANT American forces on our soil" then I would have believed that.
This world has gone mad. Completely mad.

This is how I see it:
China has rapidly risen to the point where it threatens to knock the US off it's perch as "Top Dog". The US, in all their arrogance, can't stand the thought of not being the worlds only superpower and are frantically scrambling to get a military leg-up on China before China forces a Mutually Assured Destruction stalemate. All the while, the US is spending itself into oblivion to stroke it's own ego.
Doesn't help that Americans have been subjected to 50 years of "America is the Greatest" propaganda - making them believe they have some sort of god-given right to be the world's superpower.
It's time the reins changed hands. The US had it's go and screwed it up royally.

America has essentially been subsidizing defense for Europe, Japan, and Australia for the past several decades. I would like to see this come to an eventual end.

While I agree that US military expansion must come to an end, can you provide some evidence that the US subsidises defence for Europe, Japan and Australia? Japan I almost believe, but the others I find it difficult to.

Funny, as multicultural as I am, I have family in Australia too. They are farmers. Not once, on their visits have I heard them TRASH America.
We don't trash Americans that's why, ask them about American bulls#$% you will hear trash talk then & rightly so.
Economic jitters continued to reverberate around the world yesterday with Australia not immune to the pain being felt globally. The Australian dollar sank to its lowest point against the US dollar in almost eight months, hitting 96.34 US cents at the end of five weeks of straight losses against the greenback.
Australia feels pinch of global crisis
Come again?
If you insist.
1.00 USD = 0.954502 AUD
US Dollar ↔ Australian Dollar
1 USD = 0.954502 AUD 1 AUD = 1.04767 USD
What I am saying is YOUR COUNTRY hasn't done enough for its aboriginal peoples, and is going down the path America has taken. If he wanted to wear his colors, regardless, he should. America has went down this road also. Its standing up for your rights, and freedoms. BTW, it was HIS peoples country, long before it was yours. That's a respect thing.
BTW, its been done before, and damn the rules..............
I am sorry, if I derailed your thread in any way. Please continue demonizing America.
Peace
That's a joke right? You obviously know nothing of indigenous affairs so why make yourself look like an idiot.
Sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut & let people assume your an idiot that to speak & prove the fact.
Thanks for proving the fact.
What exactly have we failed to do for the indig people? You do understand, free land, free housing, free car, free health/dental care, better welfare payments, cheaper community housing payments, Different laws for them, university positions held for them, cheap interest rates for loans, free money & support to start a business, food to go to school, we even cut them a check if they finish school & the list goes on.
We even gave them a grand appolagy and remember the mistakes of the past every year, whilst conveniantly ignoring the white kids in state care issue and giving them a half arsed appolagy at best.
So please spare me your ignorance.
As for the Olympics he should have been sent home & Cathy freeman should have been dragged from the track in disgrace. They are there to represent their country not their cultural background. He knew what the reaction would be & did it anyway, shame on him for trying to segregate the Australian people. Maybe all the Anglo Aussies should start wearing the union jack ohh but they would have their bags packed for them if they did that. Think about it.
Now what do you think would happen if an American steped up with some white power salute?
Any one who thinks this country is defenseless doesn't know a dam thing about Aussies, those that held of the Japs at Kokoda weren't our special forces they were a bunch of left behind Melita, our real troops were to buisy being sacrificed by American & British pride/incompetence.
However you can thank America for how limited our defenses are, so if we need a US carrier group it's because America has been systematically knee capping us since WW2.
