Probably the wrong section of the forum, but it is what it is...

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security".

From:
United States Declaration of Independence

What exactly does, 'pursuing invariably the same Object' exactly mean?

I feel that I'm missing the obvious here...

I found this while looking up 'Despotism', and that's when I came to my next question...

Is there a better word than 'despotism' that could be used to describe a monopoly, by business leaders over governments?

I'm thinking 'Corpostatiocracy', Corporation Statism Autocracy?

They were pursuing the same ultimate goal?

Yes, capitalism, the private ownership of the means of production. It is, and has been, in control of government for a long time, that is why we have wars. In a sense that is despotism, rule by the capitalist class.

I think the word you're looking for is Fascism.
