I get strange advertisments on my gmail.

One time i uploaded a video about denmark and it was deleted as soon as it was uploaded due to "prohibited content".

This is ATS.

No sensible explanations, please.

Eww... sounds like someone's got your IP number. Clean, defrag, rinse, repeat.
Good luck.

I seem to remember something about reading complaints of GLP banning entire blocks of IP's as some kind of prophylactic anti trolling policy.

In my opinion its just another good reason to not frequent the site, however unless I am confusing them with another website I seem to recall that emailing the admin would get the block removed.

Did they ask you for money to have you unblocked by any chance? I had that too and can't remember ever going on there... I'd steer clear of the place anyway I never hear anything good about it... As for the rest well I think you have some good advice already. I'd even suggest a fresh install and see if your ISP can give you a fresh IP...

I was banned from GLP once and emailed their admin. They said they would unblock me if I joined. LOL, weird way to try to get members......I took a pass on that one.

I also got banned from yahoo games once. I was playing spades and there was a guy swearing up a storm and stalling so I told him that I wasn't mad, because anyone still living in their mother's basement deserves pity not scorn. He must have been friends with an admin because I had a 24 hour ban lol.

So far so good on ATS....

Don't feel bad. I got banned from a poker forum site and I didn't even do anything.

I barely replied to anybody.

Your problem is most likely attributed to an over zealous Google Tech! Yes I have experienced being denied access to my own bank accounts and web sites using a Chrome Browser! I recommend deleting all Chrome programs on your machine, but before you do make sure you turn off the app on Google's website that loads all your info on whatever computer you use, very important to do first! Make sure you wipe out Google and Chrome from your machine before you load a different browser! I highly recommend using an Opera Browser! Good Luck!

That's good. We don't want feminist manhaters on the web-

You can get banned on poker sites for playing too slow. Could that have been why?

This happened to me too (I actually assumed it was a religious website 'godlike', knew nothing about them, funny being on ATS now after the fact.
)and at the time it made me paranoid. I was banned from a website I never joined. All I did was read like 2 topics and download one legal PDF linked in a thread.

At this same time I was banned from 5 other websites for more obvious reasons centering around 9/11..

This was my introduction to the "FREE" Internet community, haha.

In no particular order:

Clean that PC..
Switch out your Ethernet or Wireless card..
Re-install windows..
Re-fresh you IP..
Secure that Network..

Hah - in that case, just secure your network. Disable WPS service on your wireless router. Set up a 63-digit ASCII password (KeePassX can likely help you generate one and save all your passwords - if you don't have this on your distro yet, download it. I like Password Safe a bit better, but they don't have a Linux option yet).

Not a whole heck of a lot you can do beyond that - oh, make sure you're not just on WEP for your wireless security anymore - make sure you're using WPA2-PSK or something comparable (not sure if anything stronger available yet).

Anyone have any other pointers for Linux network security?

Hey just think if you're getting banned at least somebody is listening to or reading what you have to say.

I get 'warned' on this site at least once a week.
I haven't been banned but at least they know how I feel about different subjects.

I wouldn't worry about it until they knock on your door.

I came in 2nd, on a #1 poker site, so you better watch out. Depends on my mood. Play fast like you don't care, you'll win, but if you play too slow, you'll get taken down in a heartbeat.

It's not an issue with the computer. I have no os installed, i boot from my linux cd and can therfore not make permanent changes, ie install programs and keep them, but it keeps me safe from keyloggers and whatnot. I rather suspect someone at google having acess to my gmail account, an soforth my passwords
The best thing to do is using another service, but i'd rather not.

They banned my IP address too! I had only ever even seen their website once. That's why I chose ATS. I'm glad I did! The message I got about being banned had a "pay to avoid this" message too.
