I do like how you don't have much to say now. Made yourself look like a bit of a wally, haven't you?

And yes, I believe as people who live relatively privileged lifestyles in the rich west, we should offer our help to those who live under oppression. It's quite abhorrent you think it acceptable to stand and watch....

Engineer, medic, grunt... still part of the war machine.

Also, you don't know about my philanthropic work, so you can keep your opinions of my societal worth to yourself.

And... your juvenile statement that you would somehow assault a security officer shows me your intellectual level.

Your societal worth?? Don't make me laugh... Your own moniker "Datroof" displays a far more lack of education and juvenile approach than mine... I can spell "the truth" without feeling the need to be down with the kids... I am also a soldier with many years of dealing with moronic people too...

Fact is, under this countries law bought and paid for with the very lifeblood of people like this soldier and myself, was broken.. Spitting IS assault.. The soldier did not respond because we are used to dealing with low lives who do this on a daily basis on OPs.. Myself included.. However... As the law of the land injects, this assault on my brother would have been met with the minimum force necessary to arrest the muppet, to which, keeping with the remit of the law, would have met with an hospital visit...

Freedom of speech is OK and good.. Just do not follow that up with a base, un-provable accusation followed by an assault or you will fall fowl of having 50 shades of grey being spanked out of you... This is not juvenile, but in fact what happens when a juvenile plays with the big boys under big boys rules...

And like Mr Grey, we enjoy doing it...

Dunno why you're all wasting your time arguing with Datroof, nothing anyone says will change his mind, he has his opinion and we have ours. If he remains steadfast to his beliefs, NOTHING ANYONE says is going to change it...

I wonder if any of you can help, or as this is bound to be being quite closely watched by a mod, perhaps they may help.

I'm considering starting a thread regarding Afghanistan
I'm currently in possession of / have access to
The 2010 Helmand annual review ( US/OK/GIROA ) ( GIROA = gov of Islamic republic of afghan )
Afghanistan deplyable facts 2011 ( mod/GIROA )
Report on progress toward security and stability in Afghanistan ( GIROA/ US DOD )

Afghanistan progress reports from nov 2010 till June 2012

Provincial reconstruction teams reports

Much of the info I have is hard copy only - some 200 pages
Where does it stand with scanning these documents for posting into a thread ?

The progress reports and provinci reconstruction team reports I CAN link to

But the others are hard copy only ?
Naturally 200 scanned pages is quite a lump to post - any tips/advice

I ask that we ponder a few questions before looking at this again and see where we really stand.

- Is it a millitary need to kill or is it a government directive to send those troops to kill?

- If you catch a thief, would you prefer to take care of it while in the act, on your property, or would you prefer it be done in another facility away from the crime?

- If that act was for a justified purpose, how would you repremand the thief? Justified in the way that you also see his/her point of view to be valid.

- If an enemy, any enemy, comes to your property and kills your family, do you rally against the enemy? Do you go it alone? Do you blame the enemy or the government of the enemy? Do you retaliate against your enemy? Who is the enemy in which you retaliate? Consider you are part of the government that retaliated and the enemy comes to your property to retaliate against you in turn, because you are part of that government that retaliated against civilians that got caught in the middle of the original squabble.

- Say you had nothing to do with that squabble in the first place, yet you are affected. Who's government do you blame? Which soldiers?

- Now, say you have a son or daughter in either of those millitaries. How does our perspective change?

Still and all, either way one looks at it... The issue counters the purpose for the olympics, I think. World unity, the one place all people can go together to participate in fun games in virtual peace when the world desperately needs it.

How many children have been slaughtered in Iraq and Afghanistan?

**** the military. They have no respect from me.

The soldier was an engineer.. They build infrastructure, roads, bridges, make clean water available, clear bombs and other ordinance etc... In fact, they do more good in a week than you have in your entire little life.. People like you get and deserve no respect from me..

That G4S guard would now be in hospital having his views reinforced if I had seen it...

They build the roads and bridges that allow UN 'peackeepers' to come in and kill civilians. Seen any of the films of our marines at winter soldier admitting to these unforgivable crimes?

When they are doing it in other countries we are at war with.. I am so very right.
And does it matter? Does bringing water to a million people compensate for moving an army in to kill a thousand? Do the good things you do delete the bad things?

If the soldier is a 'Baby Killer' due to his role in the war (if he actually killed a child at all) then aren't we (UK and USA) all baby killers?
We are citizens of those countrys and our countrys went to war.
There was plenty of people cheering and clapping for the war on terror, only a hand full of people stood up and said 'No i don't think this is right' and they were called unpatriotic, terrorists, ect.

so does he deserve to be spit on .....no.

What "other wars" are these then?

And yes, I'd say getting rid of a few thousand religious whacko's is well worth getting clean water to a million people who hated the religious whacko's anyway. If you don't, then that's your opinion.

"I don't care how many Iraqis/Kurds/Kuwaitis died under Saddam's rule. That's none of our business. "

Wait, so before you were so very critical of all the deaths related to the War on Terror, now that people are giving you facts to back up their claims, you then dismiss it as being "none of our business". So you mean to tell me you are just using people's deaths as merely a statistic, and when you get called out you dismiss the very same "concern" you said you had. How very convenient. So which is it? You actually care about the people dying over there, or you don't (As it seems to be based on your post/quote) and merely use the numbers as a tool for your agenda. Your ignorance is showing, best take of it before it gets you in trouble.

Security for the Olympics should have been put in the hands of the military and local Police from the start.

A body with Bova Boots and a couple of hours doodling while some unqualified moron lectures them does not make a security guard.

Good Lord! So the few security that these losers at G4S actually HAVE managed to cough up, compared to what they contracted to provide.....may be unstable?!

What else explains someone working a professional security position, going ape on a Solider who is ALSO working the post as professional security?? This isn't a protester facing a soldier on the street. I can't believe this.

London, I hope you get through these games without incident. If you do, I'll credit the U.K.'s armed forces as they've been able to fill the gaps. G4S damn sure doesn't deserve more than a ticket to bankruptcy and destruction after how they failed on so many levels. The news out of there for the 'behind the scenes' just keeps sounding worse and worse.

You sure about that? I do a lot in a week. That said, those roads, those bridges, etc, are used to transport military personnel and equipment, correct?
