Dear Annee,

What I was trying to do was work through some ideas in an organized manner, one step following another.

I know Charles. You know I respect you.

I also know you are religious and struggle with this. At least you are questioning and stay in the struggle.

As far as Jean Paul - - I won't even acknowledge him. He's been spouting the same non-marriage crap for at least a year - - he seems incapable of discussing the actual thread subject - - instead hi-jacks every thread with the same non-marriage spew.

That's right! God forbid someone suggest that you are free and need no permission to get married by any state. God forbid someone suggest you have equal rights without any official approval. That's not your agenda, annee. For over a year or more you've made it quite clear that freedom is not your agenda.

Of course it's legal. I'm not suggesting he's doing anything illegal. But, as we all know, just because it's legal, don't make it "right".

It's not as though left wingers don't donate zillions to things that aren't exactly nice. The GLBT community has so many ties to the left they couldn't deny it if they wanted to. Everybody hates somebody.

And by the way, I'm bisexual and I enjoy pornography so it's not exactly as though I'm happy about what these people are doing.

I hesitate to step in here, but just to state the obvious, we DO need permission to get LEGALLY married by the state (AND therefore receive the state and federal benefits of legal marriage in the US today). That's how the laws of the state and country are right now.

I don't need their permission to call myself and my man (or my dog) "married", but it conveys absolutely no state and federal benefits.

The right is there, I agree... but it's being denied by the states and their laws. For gays to claim and exercise their right to LEGAL marriage (and to receive the benefits), the state laws must change to accommodate it.

My seven-year-old great-niece understands this concept. She got over "being difficult" when she was about three.

For what it's worth, I agree with your idealistic vision of true freedom, but that's not what we're talking about here. We're talking operating within the current, flawed reality. Where the feds are neglecting to protect the legal treatment of a certain group of citizens, according to the federal law of the land (Amendment 14). I know you understand this. The reasons for your continued attempts to complicate the issue with idealism, I can only guess have something to do with boredom and a need for attention.

The guy that went through the drive thru, berated the employee, then lost his job, has apologized with another video.

Remember when an apology meant that you actually went directly to the person insulted and said "I'm sorry".

When did it become acceptable to issue apologies through social media and websites rather than talking directly to the person you so horribly affected?

What happened to a good old fashioned sit down over a beer and say your sorry apology?

Anything else lacks sincerity.

Like what? I have not claimed that the LGBT community is not closely allied with the left. They are. The left is willing to stand up for their rights, where the right is actively working to deny them. What's not to love?

I support the freedom to hate. I don't support legally denying citizens their rights because of that hatred.

For once, I agree with you!
But that's another thread, not this one. That bully should go back to that restaurant with a bouquet of flowers and make a personal and sincere apology to the victim of his tirade... Some people are real butt holes!
