Agreed, difficult to comment on. But that was awesome! I wonder if they'll listen to his warning at all...

yea...

Way for a government employee to step on free speech.

Like it or not I thought Corporations where people, and Chick-fil-a by supporting Anti-gay marriage was practicing free speech.

You may not like it, but it is the right of every American, and its wrong for the government to step in.

Some people sure like making a big stink out of nothing.

Shameful.

All I saw here was: "Damn your freedom of speech, we don't like your opinions so you cannot do business in our city"

Perhaps Boston should try and revoke rights of opponents to gay marriage to live in the city as well?

I don't think the government is "stepping in". The mayor is just voicing his opinion. Using his right to free speech. Just like Chik Fil-A. He didn't say that they will not be allowed to obtain a permit. He was just saying that he disagreed with their stance and thinks that gays and gay supporters in Boston won't appreciate them being there.

I disagree. I think that he is very seriously saying that he does not want them there, but I see "I urge you to back out of your plans" (or whatever it said, I'm not looking at it at the moment) as the worst thing he said. I don't think they're being stopped. I think it's being suggested. Strongly.

How does the Mayor's letter stop them holding that attitude?

What it sdays is that he doesn't like it (which he is allowed to do), and that he hopes they won't come to Boston (which he is allowed to hope).

That is also free speech.

It's soooo funny!!! All you guys/girls complaining about the mayor stepping on their free speech! The mayor never said they aren't allowed in Boston, only that they should reconsider it. What about his free speech? I love hypocrites! Keep it coming!!!

Coporations are people as much as numbers, mustard, and cars are people. IE they are not people.

2+2 does NOT equal 5, no matter how many times its told to someone that it does.

No. They are not. Nothing was stated about Christianity. It was one persons opinion vs. another persons opinion. Both are entitled to free speech no? Or just the ones that fit into your viewpoint?

I urge you to back out of your plans to locate to boston

there is no place for your company

it is an insult to have a Chik fil A

That is discriminatory against a company for holding a religious belief... plain and simple.... it is discrimination by government officials.... he is the mayor, therefore the government.... he is saying because of their religious belief he wants to deny their business in his town

This is the government saying this, not a person....

Chick fil a said they hold the stance they do because of their religion.... the mayor did not need to say it....Chik fil a already did

it is religious discrimination for holding a religious belief

This is soooo dumb...

I swear, I'm sick of social causes and feigned outrage. It's a freaking chicken joint. Who cares?

If I lived in Boston and had ever tasted a chicken biscuit on a road trip - I'd be so pissed right now. LOL! To speak nothing of the jobs they would bring....

So get on that constitutional amendment to repeal it, call your senators and house of reps, as it stands like it or not, its the law of the land.

Okay so to all the people proud of this Mayor...

You understand it is a government official directly interfering with freedom of speech?

Punishing for their free speech Right?

You guys get that part of this right?

The law has nothing to do with truth. If you want to pretend and make believe that corporations are people, go for it. Lots of people do. That doesnt make it true, though.

No wonder the country is in such shambles... people will believe anything they are told without critically thinking about it.
