Norway's killer has absolutely no similarities to the Holmes case at all.

However, if you want to find an almost identical case, don't look too far to Sirhan Sirhan.

I'd say there are quite a few similarities -

Both
were loners
were addicted to violent video games
were estranged from family
were attempting to *right* a wrong with a massacre
wore black during rampage
had similar tactical gear
both left manifestos
had successful fathers

as far as I'm aware, we know nothing whatsoever of his motives, if there were any. I agree on the rest of your points though.

Actually, not entirely. Do you have a source for Holmes being 'addicted to violent video games'? I have read that he played games, but not how much, and the only game I've seen specifically mentioned was Guitar Hero, hardly a violent game.

To add to what you said, Breivik also used explosives to distract police (and kill four more people) right before he started his shooting. I believe that might have been Holmes' plan as well (or whoever planned all this), which is why he left his door unlocked and made that loud music play right around the time the movie started and he was preparing for his attack. It seems he just had 'bad luck' in that nobody opened the door.

Breivik's attack also happened almost precisely a year before Holmes'. At the very least, I think Breivik may have been an inspiration for Holmes.

Hate to break it to you, but most people under the age of 40 are addicted to videogames. I certainly am, and have been since I was a kid (35 now).

Also, can someone explain to me why tightening up gun control in the US is a bad thing? Nearly 9k of murders in the US last year involved a firearm. In the UK I can only remember one massacre in recent memory, Dunblane, and that guy used hunting rifles IIRC.

he got the ammo online. No doubt there are sites where you type in what kind of gun you have and it tells you the ammo you need. Anyone with a brain can find out anything with the internet these days.

As an intelligent member of the Human race was he not more qualified then most to construct booby traps? You seem to want to forget how easy it is to access information in this day and age. The man had a PHD in neuroscience for gosh sakes if there was anyone who knows the complexiites of "wiring" its him.

Nobody enters a movie house in tactical gear, teargas canisters, knives and automatic rifles without having a beef with something or someone.

Tactical Gear is Black for a reason, bright pink would kinda defeat the purpose I guess it coulda been camo, but for urban settings black is used. Also if you look at the specific gear, they really didn't have "similiar gear.

Alot of these points are "reaching" to put it midly.

also someone compared Holmes to Sirhan? Sirhan Killed a Senator a Kennedy at that. Holmes shot some random people in a theatre. There's a HUGE difference between an assassination and gunning down everyday people.

Face it Holmes was a psycho case closed. Yes he fits the typical Serial Killer profile. White Male, age 20-35, loner (or double life) Hi IQ.Plays Video games. Has strong political stance. Comes across as shy and harmless. You can put probably 30% of the white male population between 20-35 in this group. Not a very select group. Sorry everyone.

Those were the common denominators apparent to the eye. Under the facade of the frozen smiles and eyes staring in 2 different directions are 2 entities with severe maladaptive disorders of the soul, which have left them without emotion or affect. Not uncommon in certain genetic pools. One would be interested to know more about the birth parents of both - and the events transpiring pre-natal and post, to pinpoint the exact time of their detachment.

This wasn't an in depth study. Merely to counter what was stated in a previous post that these 2 individuals and their crimes had nothing in common.

I don't know if most people under the age of 40 is addicted to video games but it's probably more like one in three kids........and thats WORLDWIDE!

Some people have to realise this is 2012 and every kid likes his tech which includes gaming both online and offline whether that be PS3, Wi-i, PC Games, or whatever. Thats just how it is and thats the way of the times - unfortunately.

And just for others: The biggest online users of games are the Asians

Sorry, but you're wrong about one thing. Holmes isn't a serial killer, he's a mass murderer. Serial killers commit murders over a long period of time. Mass murderers do it all in one swoop.

And what about the trail of blood coming out from the exit door? To me, i feel as if Theatre 9 was A stage play; ALL an act. I haven't noticed much about the victims' "loved ones"; unless, i've missed something.

Besides all that, we'll never know the truth. It will be one of those "events" shrouded in conspiracies. I hate knowing about something, and not knowing the WHOLE truth. I want to know the truth about 9-11. I want to know the truth about JFK, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, O.J., Penn State, OKC, Columbine, the Moon landings, E.T.'s, uuuuuuh what else? I just want to know the TRUTH!
