I think you are somewhat misguided here: I am not spewing, I am calmly typing on a forum with a differing view point to yours, the fact it is differing seems to irk you as such I am "spewing". May I remind you that the entire forum is currently littered with posts about US gun laws, they always spring up when there is another gun related mass murder so it is not as if I am the only one with an opposing view point. Opposing views are what, thank fully, make this world what it is. If we were all drones it would be rather boring don't you think? I am also not ignorant, again another assumption. I have remained polite, factual and on topic.

Would you care for me to list all the American mass murders in the last 20 years committed with guns? The topic is concerning the state of Maine, in the US if I need to remind you.

We're discussing US gun laws. I would happily discuss my views on guns all over the world, but again I am trying to remain on topic, however for the record, they are the SAME views.

Kindly return to your earlier post and re-read what you wrote. You may be talking in a figurative sense, but even alluding to my family being attacked I found to be completely out of order. You may wish no ill will, but it struct me as quite the opposite.

Now for my own sanity's sake, I think it's time to say goodnight and go home, hug my family and have a nice large glass of Oban.

Again I bid you well JayFlores.

Isn't it obvious? This new (false flag) "trend" will eventually be used as an excuse to implement TSA-style security checkpoints in movie theaters and other public venues. It was clear to me from day one.

It's quite obvious that American's are in the process of being controlled and contained like cattle, whether it is intentional or not.

Eventually this will move beyond just movie theater's, pretty soon they'll run out of ways to control/contain you and they'll have to start inserting tracking devices into people.

Okay, so you live in the UK and are worried about the gun laws in the U.S.? Seems like a case of worrying about your neighbors back yard instead of your own. Until you become a U.S. citizen, I dont feel your opinion holds much weight.
Nuff said.

Obama is really greasing the wheels for this whole UN arms ban on 7-27.

Enemy nations have too much influence on the UN, of course they want Americans to disarm! The moment you disarm the Chinese and Russians will start licking their chops.

I spoke with my 25 year old son last night who didn't hear about the shooting in CO until after he had seen the movie over the weekend. He said that the Movie theaters were packed all weekend. I told him that I was wondering if people were going to the movies after the news of the shootings. I guess if they are like my son they didn't watch cable news and didn't hear about it either....

I told my son I was wondering how many people showed up at the Movie theaters with their weapons ready to return fire if anyone started shooting...then I see this thread....

It's not like your rights to bear arms are stopping your government from bending you over and ripping you a new one, is it? That was slightly tongue in cheek but quite poignant I think.

That's actually a wonderful point. The intention of the 2nd Amendment was to prevent the very government that we have today.

Well guess what, it's an epic fail for the 2nd amendment, and no wonder -- the society is very different today from what it was in the late 18th century when this amendment was added.

It simply doesn't work, so get rid of it. "If you ban guns, people will use knives" - duh, I doubt that Virginia Tech and now the Batman massacre would have been of nearly same scale.

The "conservatives" in this country that advocate people buying 6000 rounds of high velocity ammo, tear gas and body armor w/o much more than a cursory criminal check, are nuts out of their mind and running out of excuses. Colorado has a high concealed carry rate, and that didn't stop this from occurring. He bought all this crap legally, like the nutball at Virginia Tech, which blows the concept that criminals buy illegally and "great sean hannity americans" only buy legally... There needs to be an ammo limit per household, and a gun limit per household... Why limit the amount of pets you can have in a household to consider it safe, but not guns... A cop just killed his son thinking he was an intruder yesterday as well.. the GOP is bought and sold by the NRA, just like the DEMs are bought and sold by Planned Parenthood and the LGBT lobbys. The GOP stance on guns is not reflective of the people. I live in Virginia, a conservative state, and the conservative talk radio station (of which has 90%+ GOP audience) polled at 64% for those wanting tougher restrictions on guns and ammo buying.. 64%!!!! from a GOP audience... Both the GOP and the dems secretly want to tighten gun laws and enforcement, but both are afraid to take on the gun lobby... Remington, S&W A&R... they just want to make money.. They put out ads saying that the dems are going to take your guns... but what gun limiting legislation has been passed by congress in the last 20 years...ZERO!!! Obama actually increased gun rights in the stimulus bill, allowing concealed carry in the National Parks... The gun lobby has sold the US into the gutter by making them the country with the most guns and gun violence per capita IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD!!! No civilization has EVER had as much gun violence as the US... A civilian does not need to pick anything off from 1 1/2 miles away with a 50 cal. !!! It is staggering.. I follow the teaching of Jesus as a Christian TRUE conservative, and for years we have held our nose to the NRA and gun lobby and accepted them as a plank in the conservative platform... Enough is enough already!!! We need limits on ammo, magazine capacity, range, and calibre right away.

Do you know how many years I used to always carry my trusty 1911 .45 with me whenever my wife and I would go out?

She hated it, and would plead with me to leave it at home. But I always thought and maintained the notion that I will be damned if some psychotic kid comes and tries to harm my wife.

I would do anything to save my family, or any innocent person for that matter in a situation such as the Colorado one. Or at least died trying.

Banning the guns won't fix the government, and it won't prevent crimes. There is plenty of statistical evidence from around the globe to prove that.

The violence can be prevented by fixing our education system, economy, and moral society, and those things would be much easier if we started by fixing the government.

Banning guns would only make things worse.

Second amendment is addition (amendment) to the constitution, so it was NOT in original constitution, and it was added later. Apparently originally our founding fathers thought of us being a bit smarter... If they believed that USA population would make correct choices in the future, we would not have electoral college today. (only country in the world) My government teacher used to say - we have it because founding fathers did not trust population to make right decisions.

Some of those amendment were repealed and showed as not working well (18th amendment anyone) and even being now part of constitution, it does not mean that it is right and correct choice. It was 200 and more years ago, but humans should rise above need of weapons eventually.

I know first hand what happens when everyone gets guns. Can you believe someone being killed over foul in soccer game from 20 years ago??

Tell you the truth, I don't feel more secure with knowledge that anyone can (or already does) own a gun.

Damn pesky laws....

Bill of Rights....NUMBER II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep
and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

We should limit the amount of ammo or guns a person.....

......"the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Assault rifles aren't needed for hunting....

......"A well regulated militia..."

What is an assault rifle and all that ammo protecting you from? One pistol or hunting rifle is enough...

......"the security of a FREE state."

------------------------

A well regulated militia consists of citizens armed in the interest of protecting a free state....

Free state denotes FREEDOM.....and freedom comes with a price....it comes with responsibility
for one's self.....responsibility to be wary at all times....it comes with the caveat that sometimes
maintaining your freedom requires sacrifice of human lives...enemies of the state reside
outside the republic...and inside the republic....

In a dictatorship...the only enemy to freedom is the dictator

Every session bills are proposed.

That fact that they dont get anywhere could mean the lobby is actually doing its job. The job I want it to be doing.

In fact, I wish it would do a whole lot more and rip apart these nonsensical permitting laws and shred the NFA.

I think to many people, including myself, the focus on gun violence is amped up for a very specific reason by specific people. In the midst of countless good things going on in this world we're once again forced to watch a massacre, with the intent to trick us into thinking it's a rapidly spreading infection. The truth is that murderers and psychos are seriously outnumbered by non-violent people. The best way to combat this negativity is to use our heads and see passed the b.s. But more importantly using our hearts to stay human.
For the record though the Aurora rampage reaks of NWO stench.

He did not take a gun into the movie he just said he went to the movie. Lets blow everything out of proportion.
The pics of the guns looked like all were brand new (no scratches) and most magazines were still in the packaging...I smell something fishy>>>>>source yahoo news.

Your argument has lost all merit.. There are no major laws in the country restricting concealed carry, but the NRA keeps increasing lobby money because of the increasing gun violence.. The stats dont lie. We have more guns and gun violence thsn any nation..

A person without a gun= victim
A person with a gun can return fire
The right to bear arms is just that. I should be able to carry a firearm however and when ever I see fit. Without infringement.
The right to bear arms does not say the right to buy a firearm and put it in a safe.
Everyone is looking at the Batman movie so let's put this debate in perspective.
When a super hero gets hurt or exhausted and is out of commission for awhile, when he comes back society is in turmoil andevil is running amuck. The superhero takes charge and restores peace.
Gun laws are the same. When all of the guns are taken away and you are facing the tyrannical forces and evil is running amuck , you have taken the heros only means of protecting you out his reach.
Sleep well.
We,who are the gun owners, are the heros for we protect the innocent from evil and a tyrannical government!
Ironic that Colorado has one of the strictest gun laws where people cannot carry to a movie theater.

Illinois, NYC, MA, NJ, CA, all either heavily restrict carry, ban it outright, or ban it by proxy with "may issue" wordage.

I can carry from where I am to only one other state in the union, two if I fly over a dozen to get there.

That restricts the hell out of my carry.
