Buckley AFB extremely busy today

Has anyone in CO noticed that Buckley Air Force Base has been busy today?
I live near the theater in Aurora, CO as well as Buckley AFB. Buckley is about 3 miles from the theater. I had been hearing jets since 8 this morning, but didn't think much of it. It is normal to hear the jets doing their training around 10 and 11 am. They circle around and stay pretty low to the ground. Today around 1pm, I was stuck in traffic that runs by the theater and looked up. I noticed that there were a number of jets at a really high altitude. There were about 6-8. I sat in traffic for about 10 minutes and watched them. It was difficult to tell what they were doing, but they stayed in the area. More seemed to appear.
I thought it was worth noting. I did not get any pictures.

I don't know about what the jets were doing...potentially normal training...there were at least 4 of the shooting victims from the AFB...one I believe was killed so that might account for some of the extra traffic or at least why it seemed busy today.
