EBT (Welfare/Food/etc "benefit") abuse

I live in the state of Washington. Our EBT system has both food stamps and cash benefits on the same card. Perhaps the gentleman in question was using his cash benefits to pay for gas. Regardless, I agree that we do not know his situation, so it serves no purpose to judge without any real facts.

One thing I have noticed over the years is that it is quite socially acceptable to discriminate against the poor, especially if they are using benefits from the states. Check out any local weekly paper that has a "cheers and jeers" section in it, I bet at least once a month there will be a rant on perceived EBT abuse.
