Holy Controversy, Batman! Rotten Tomatoes, the popular movie review website, said it took the unprecedented step of shutting down comments about early reviews of one of the most hotly anticipated movies of the year --"The Dark Knight Rises"-- after remarks grew especially heated and even threatening. "Death threats, rape threats are not OK, and that's what was happening," Matt Atchity, the site's editor in chief, told the Los Angeles Times.

I can't say as I disagree with them. Those comments were getting pretty nuts.

To give death threats over a bad review is insanity.

How can a movie be so bad that one desires to rape?
Ive seen some awful flicks in my life, but never once did I feel a need to rape someone.

I seriously hope no one is killed or raped over a film anyway. That'd be the dumbest thing I ever heard of.

I got to admit that I was really all that impressed with the last one. I love the Marvel movies but Batman for some reason just doesn't appeal to me. Maybe because he doesn't have super hero powers? I'll still check out this movie on video though.

I do not get the hype over Batman either. The only good part of any Batman movie ever was Heath Ledger's Joker. He made the last Batman movie barely watchable. I bought the last Batman movie just so I could fast forward through the stupid drivel that did not have the Joker in it.

But then, I never got any superhero movie and always root for the "bad guys". I know if I had super powers I would not waste them saving people. I would put them to use destroying things and making the world a better place through attrition.

I wonder if those invested in the movie weren't the ones doing the threatening in hopes of closing the thread or bullying enough people to only positively comment.

I can't think of anyone else really caring that much about a fn movie
