The most senior Syrian politician to defect to the opposition has told the BBC the regime will not hesitate to use chemical weapons if it is cornered.

full story

IMO its only a matter of time till we have a "False Flag" in Syria. They are talking WAY too much about chemical weapons and its shooting out from all sides.

It is a well known fact that Syria has chemical weapons. Just like its a well known fact that Israel has nuclear weapons.

It is a well known fact that Syria's government only cares about holding onto power and will do what they think is necessary to keep that power.

With that said, what would make it a false flag? Why does this term get thrown around ATS so much? So wantonly and without evidence? This is not to say that false flag events have never taken place. But why are you and most everyone on ATS so certain that every conflict is the product of a false flag? Especially in the Middle East where despotic regimes similar to the Syrian regime have been known to murder on a mass scale?

It just seems like a thoughtless go-to argument/accusation for anyone dealing with foreign affairs issues on ATS. It's rather annoying and it lacks substance, especially in fluid situations like what is going on in Syria. Doing so sort of cheapens the story that needs to be told so bad.

You can aim artillery shells, missiles and bullets. Chemical weapons once delivered down range goes whichever way the wind blows killing indiscriminately. But, hey, whatever it takes to keep a dictator in power.

God help them if they choose to deploy them

Reasons why I don't care..

#1; We don't believe you.

#2; The CIA have all kinds of weapons they use all the time.

#3: They also enjoy LARPING around pretending they are other groups of people.

#4: We don't believe you.

Yes those are two formidable reasons as well.

I think George W the 2nd used them as an excuse to commit war crimes at some point.

In any case, Syria is a manufactured proxy war, that we knew was coming. People told us in the early 2000's.

The problem with Globalist Scum Bags is that they are pretty clever and will wait decades for results.

I'm sure if an extremist american group started firing away inside the USA you would see the same response from the US government. Everyone would be labelled terrorists and they would blow away anyone they seen fit...

I do not think they are foolish enough to bring doom upon themselves by using chemical weapon. This would just invite the UN to crush the already weak regime. Now perhaps some other county (wink wink) could unleash such an atrocity in order to gain world wide favor of intervention, but otherwise I think not.

Meanwhile, what will the tune be when and if we start seeing images of dead civilians from chemical attacks start surfacing?

More propaganda?
More # 1 and 4?

I agree hence "False Flag" but the MSM are gunning up this the same way they did with WMD's

No, I'll believe that those citizens were killed by the proxy groups who are currently fighting a war against the government in Syria. There probably chemicals weapons in Syria, it's just however CNN or Fox Or MSNBC or the BBC tries to tell me are using them, it's probably the opposite.

I don't believe anything that comes from the media, in regards to coup a d'etat in other nations. They are lying, cause they are currently performing a coup d'etat and public support is important.

You don't get that support without fear and propaganda anymore and the United States does an incredibly transparent, although somehow very effective job at convincing their citizenry that military action is required in nations where there are no credible threats to said nation's people.

Only economic benefits by occupying their nation with it's allies in order to exploit it's resources. It's been done in a few Middle Eastern countries, you can take a wild guess as to which two that is, and how that's worked out for them.

It just doesn't make any sense. It's far too clear that again, cause we were told like 10 years ago, that they had this planned.

The details are irrelevant, they may have arrived here by different means than they anticipated, never the less the end game is the same. Divide & Conquer.

Even before anything possibly happens you're already starting out your argument with quite a few "probablys". Contempt prior to investigation is a lousy way of staying objective IMO.

Just an observation.

No there's just the one Slayer, which is there might, or might not be chemical weapons, and however is using them wants you to think it was somebody else most likely.

I suppose that's two.

I'm sorry but I don't tow the media line and I don't believe agencies that have a long and consistent history of misreporting facts and being owned by Globalists who create the news as opposed to report it.

Neither do I but, Syria has been known for decades to have a Chemical stockpile.

Time will tell I suppose.

Don't forget, we've seen it before so I'm sure we'll see it again. (MSM pushing an agenda that is)

I hope it is an agenda! I would hate to think they would use such things on there own people

Where has this been known and by who has this knowledge or proof?

Because there's not any real evidence that I've found that doesn't end up being sourcing nightmare which says that there is confirmation of a chemical weapons stockpile in Syria. I'm sure they probably had a chemical weapons program at some point, but all nations did.

I'm sure the US is still developing chemical weapons in some form or another.

Yeah time will tell, but we've heard this story before and they tried to lie about it before. I just hope the world and Americans aren't dumb enough to get pulled into another conflict it doesn't need to be in.

I don't believe anyone can be surprised by this announcement, common knowledge had Syria with Chemical Weapons, regardless if they utilize them, or they ""Utilize Them""" it's a Win - Win Situation for the West,
