If a fat man in a red suite showed up on Christmas to give you presents what would think? There's a bunch of people eating other people or at least parts of people, and acting very aggressive and strange as they do it. Often times not responding to even violent things happening to them....Now I'm not saying it's zombies, but at the same time I'm not saying it's Santa in the case of the fat man delivering presents to your house on Christmas in a red suite. Granted this is a hypothetical with the fat man it's just a metaphor. If the shoe fits some people are going to call it a zombie. The only difference so far for the most part between these cannibals and zombies that I can tell is that zombies are undead, and these cannibals definitely die and not just to head-shots.

It's not my job to show you the obvious sir. By definition, reports of zombies have existed. St. Nicholas was very real. Perhaps you should google tooth fairy origins aswell, i suppose you want to completely discount possible extra/interdimensional beings as the cultprit, being a grown up and all. You know, speaking as if you know all of the unknown. There is a bit of truth to every story. If what you've gathered in your research that I doubt you've even done, and still believe there is nothing to the stories then that's your deal. I don't care what you do or don't believe, but one thing I won't do is call people stupid, and child like because they dont completely dismiss the unknown. You don't know, but act as if you do. That alone is more wrong than any post on this topic.

How short sighted you are. When people first thought about going to the moon, there was probably someone just like you saying "it's impossible to go to the moon, you've been watching too many movies, grow up"

All you have done is insult people, you have yet to provide any evidence, or even a logical idea of why a zombie type outbreak isn't possible. I have presented a very possible idea, that a virus could destroy higher brain function, and cause someone to behave very zombie-like. If such a virus was very contagious, you would have yourself a zombie outbreak.

If you were in your house, with thousands of blood-thirsty people running around outside who were immune to pain and trying to chew people's faces off, and your friends calls you up and says "be careful, there is a zombie outbreak" you'd probably just call him childish, tell him to grow up, then go outside and get eaten alive by a bunch of "non-zombies"

If it looks like a zombie, acts like a zombie, it's a zombie.

There are not anything in the OP about actual (fictional or real) zombies.

There is one thing worse then acting like (your description) "children who read too much comic books".

You've got to a troll. Why else would you come look at a thread whose title directly points to be people discussing zombies if you don't want anything to do with the subject or what it implies based on the op's thread then why even bother coming to look at the thread to begin with? Why take the time to come into a thread to discuss the definition of word used describe a subject and not even bother discussing the subject. You just got stuck on wording she used instead of actually addressing what she was talking about in the thread. Hell if you really want to just replace the word "zombie" with "cannibal" then read the thread and actually have something something relevant to discuss instead of just trolling the thread and bashing the use of a single term. Or is it too hard to discuss in such a fashion?

I think I made it fairly obvious what my definition of a real-life zombie would be. Someone with zero higher brain function, highly aggressive and violent, and lacks any response to pain making them hard to subdue.

If the streets of your city were overrun with tens of thousands of people meeting my previous description, and someone said "zombie outbreak!" would you call him an idiot and scoff as you are being attacked?

Why is the word itself so important to you guys? If we call these crazed people "Sombies" instead will that make you feel better?

Again I go back to 28 days later, is there anything about the zombies in that movie that you think is NOT possible? Aside from the whole "rage extract" part. A virus that causes people to act the way they did in 28 days later, NOTHING impossible about that at all. They are called zombies when on screen, why not when they are walking the streets?

Well I don't refer to those parts of the brain as reptilian, but I understand why you do and probably where you're getting that from. In any case though people in altered states can do things that they are not aware of with something as simple as alcohol in their system. Ever drank too much and acted like a jackass and then woke up and had no memory of it even though everyone says you acted like a jackass. Well, it's sort of like that except your not drunk. I don't know what caused this to happen in a lot of people however the motor functions of your brain all come from the same area and the need to feed is a basic instinct. So someone who has lost themselves through whatever means caused this would lose the ability to think about details, remember, identify people or situations appropriately. I myself had this sort of issue once that didn't involve alcohol. Not to the extent that it effected these people obviously but I have temporarily lost my mind. I won't go into details as to what caused it (at least not yet) but I can tell you at the time I couldn't identify some of my closest friends, I couldn't really talk or when I could it didn't make sense. I didn't know what was going on. I tried to choke someone and when I came to I had no memory of any of that occurring. This only lasted a couple of hours though. Whatever happened to the more well known case of the man eating the face and being shot at....Whatever caused that must have lasted a lot longer then what happened to me. It was probably some sort of very strong psychedelic that the majority of the population isn't aware of yet. Most of the time in my experience, psychedelics are mostly just harmless and fun, however, when someone who isn't very mentally stable to begin with takes too much of a psychedelic it can have bad results.

There is actually a case of man stabbing his friends heart out of his chest while reportedly on mushrooms.

Now, I hate to admit this but what probably caused my temporary lack of sanity was too many mushrooms. I am an avid fan of psychedelics though and I think if people don't take doses that are too extreme they can be a fun and mind expanding adventures into different dimensions even if those dimensions are inside ones own head. In my case I have taken several trips on at least 4 different types of psychedelics. I've only temporarily lost that control over myself once and it was on mushrooms. I've probably tripped altogether at least 50 times on various substances. I haven't done any of that recently but I can tell you certain things remain true on any psych, your body heat goes up, and basic motor skills remain almost entirely intact. (although you don't always realize it) We are the universe and the universe is us both in a literal sense and a fundamental one.

It is entirely possible that some new psychedelic more powerful then the ones that the majority of people take could have been the culprit. It is very hard to test for psychedelics in the body accurately, especially if it isn't done within 24 hours of ingestion if they even tested for it at all.

If you are referring to the Scorched earth policy, used by russia during WW2. It would be useless against zombies, but if you needed to also dissuade people then maybe it might be beneficial. But given the circumstances of a zombie apocalypse, destroying things you need would be a bad idea. I would suggest you look up the drug Krocodil, it gives the user the same high as mixing '___', Meth, and a deliriant, pretty messed up stuff. Turns the skin around the injection site green and scaly, and the user develops gangrene.

Except for the fact that zombies are present in almost EVERY religion. There are legends and myths. There have been reports from around the world of people who awaken after being reported dead. Every ancient culture has some report of zombies.

So I try it again - is it possible that the government manufactured this drug and is testing it's effects in society to see how people will react to beeing rapidly heated from within, in case of the sun getting slightly hotter very suddenly in the near future?

The first case I seen related to this streak of naked drugged up "zombies" was the Kony 2012 director, surprised nobody made the connection. They tried to say his madness was brought on by heat stroke and dehydraton, lol?

I don't know if this is intentional, but the fact that people exposed to these "bath salts" always strip naked and reports that the body of the guy in the Miami case stayed warm after death suggest this could be atleast be a side effect.

I don't believe in santa or the toothfairy, but i do believe in MINDLESS people. Here's my beef: How come we never talk about evil 'spirits'; demonic beings that are inhabiting people, causing them to act like this? Honestly, I don't think we take the SPIRIT world seriously enough; and our world, is being led by them!!! The "all seeing eye" is Lucifer. The god 'tptb worship. You people don't UNDERSTAND that yet?
