2. Laurel Canyon is sorta creepy. It's dark has tall steep hillsides that let in little light. It's windy and whimsical. But the trees look half sick and overgrown. There's something I never really liked about that canyon. As if there was something wrong with it. It's interesting because the other side of the canyon where it feeds into the "Valley" of los angeles has a totally different feel. It's clean and friendly feeling. But I always got the impression that there was something wrong with the south side of the canyon thats famous for being Laurel Canyon.

Yes...when I think "conspiracy" or "military-industrial complex" the very first people that come to mind are David Crosby, Frank Zappa, and Jim Morrison.
And in other news...Jerry Garcia killed JFK, Janis Joplin helped develop the SR-71 Blackbird, and Stevie Nicks is secretly in charge of the entire might of the US military's space-based weapon systems.
Seems plausible.

I am glad to know that I am not the only one who found Laurel Canyon kind of creepy.

The class division was not at all subtle.

I attended a function at a hotel in Beverly Hills a few years ago, and the police were driving celebrities and other important people home in black Suburbans. At the time I remember thinking, is there any other city in the U.S. where this happens, probably not. Usually at the end of the evening, most people Don't want a ride in a cop car.
The canyons can be fun to see because of all the mansions, but I agree, LA is definately different.
