According to the American Heritage Dictionary...

EID, you're right on target for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Tuesday is from Tiu's Day, where Tiu is a germanic god of war and the sky.
Wednesday is from Woden's Day, a variation on the Norse god Odin.
Thursday is from Thor's Day.
Friday is from Frie Day, but I'm not sure who this Frie was.

Most of those names date back at least to Middle or Old English, which means they're, well, pretty old.

I believe ancient Sumerians began the orderly divisions of time/days/etc

or else, maybe, Sumer got that knowledge from ?Atlantis?

Friday is 'Frigga's day'. She was the wife of Odin/Woden of the Northern pantheon.

Monday - Moon Day
Tuesday - Tiw's day (Northern Pantheon God of law & justice)
Wednesday - Woden's Day (Woden/Oden - Chief god of the N.P)
Thursday - Thor's Day (N.P)
Friday - Frigga's Day (N.P)
Saturday - Saturn's Day (Ancient Roman pantheon I think)
Sunday - Guess
