Beirut, Asharq Al-Awsat – In light of the noticeable development in the Free Syrian Army [FSA]’s military operations, not to mention the escalated pace of defections from the regular army’s forces, the FSA has announced that it is gearing up to take the fight to the al-Assad regime in Damascus. Speaking exclusively to Asharq Al-Awsat, FSA commander Colonel Riad al-Asaad revealed that “preparations for the battle of Damascus are underway and are in full swing, particularly as this operation – which will be the final and decisive confrontation with the regime – requires special preparations and arrangements”. He added “this has led to the battle being postponed so far; however once it starts it will be resolved quickly, within a matter of weeks.”

I remember in 2003 when US soldiers where getting closer to Baghdad
fighting guerrila war in the streets
shooting anyone that look suspect or linked to Saddam Regime

Its Exactly the same kind of war now
US have formented a war under the disguise of revolution
its even less expensive that way then bringing all the troops in

If the US had done that in Syria with a direct confrontation
they would not so much be viewwed has the good guys
always invading countries killing everyone in their path

The FSA commander also claimed that the Syrian regime has issued commands “claiming that all Sunni officers are part of a sleeper cell and ordering their deaths”, adding “this is after more than 3,000 officers were arrested.”

Assad know with certainty now that his army was inflitrated by the enemy
to wage chaos and confusion and breaking the moral of Assad troops with such defections

Al-Haraki added that “the FSA’s previous capabilities did not allow for it to initiate the battle for Damascus, but today – following the development of its operations, its targeting of sites in Damascus, and its acquisition of more weapons – we can say that the FSA is ready for this battle.”

We all know where most weapon given to the rebel come from ..
Iraq and Turkey have opened their border without any limits to smuggle weapons into Syria FSA

He also stressed that “the situation is approaching the end game and there is no need to wait for countries to fulfill their pledges to arm the FSA, as the FSA is prepared to fight the battle now.” He added “the regime’s forces that are stationed throughout the country are exhausted and fragmented, and this has forced even those surrounding the presidential palace to be deployed in operations outside of Damascus, not to mention the escalating pace of defections across the entire military spectrum and including senior officers.”

Nato has been arming alqueada in Syria for months
this is why they are advancing and winning their war against Assad
they know they have the world supporting them now and that Nato back them off
keeping the moral high to finish the job with Assad

It is worth noting that the military battles between the FSA and the al-Assad regime’s forces have escalated significantly over the past two weeks, with confrontations taking place within the Syrian capital itself. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights revealed that violent clashes broke out in the Damascus districts of Qaboun, Qudsaya and Dummar last week between the FSA and Republican Guards, just 8 km from Umayyad Square in the center of the city. Security in Damascus has been significantly tightened, particularly around government headquarters and the presidential palace.

Media reports also claimed that the Syrian opposition is preparing to assault Damascus with the objective of confronting and toppling the al-Assad regime. Reports claim that the FSA is preparing to besiege the Syrian capital with a total of 30,000 troops. One source told the media that meetings were being held in Turkey between the FSA leadership and Arab and western military and intelligence apparatuses to discuss the logistics and details with regards to taking the battle to the heart of Damascus.

When the 30 000 alqueada terrorist start their assault on Damascus
Nato will probably step in at the same time

Its easy to expose their lies .. you just need to ask the good question
they are clever but their weak spot is thinking we are all dumb

Matt Lee

Once we know what happened to Iraq and Libya
we will understand what the hell is going on in Syria

This last video is for Slayer since he like it so much

I hope the FSA gets their arses kicked.

They have enough blood on their hands so I will feel no remorse as they reap what they have sown.

This will be interesting to monitor so thank you for posting this.

Since the Houla massacre where they killed hundreds of kids
and accused Assad with it ...
i really dispise they have absolutly no honor at all
they are mercernaries hired to kill .. not rebel or soldiers

i have see video of their crimes in Syria
really disgusting

they have done the same crime against humanity in Libya
killing Gaddafi at the end so he wont go to trial exposing them for what they are

Final Battle's are the most fun; unfortunately, they don't seem to materialize very often when you fight a coward.

Final Battle's are where a man can become an immortal based upon little more than his performance that day and for that reason a soldier can show up naked and just get the work done.

Good post, Damascus is very, very close to both the lebonese and Israeli borders.
Usually, and correct me if im wrong but the capital city is the last place to fall in civil wars/invasions and its when the rest of the country is on bended-knee and most troops have realised that the war is lost and put up little to no resistants and the "liberaters" roll on in sitting on the tanks waving flags and making peace signs.
I don`t see that is the case here at all.
A vicious battle in the capital can quickly spill into lebanon and Israel and then what!!

Thanks for posting. I had just typed up a detailed thread on where we are in Syria. Then a slip of the hand on the lap top lost it all. BUGGER. I know there has been alot of threads on Syria, Iran and world war 3. But now I beleive that we are closer to one minute to midnight for all out war in the middle east.
The west are bringing out the WMDs card again. Syrias getting more ticked off with the rebels, officers swapping teams and now looseing alot of tanks etc to new advanced weapons of the rebels. And now we have TPTB in the US and Israel spanking there monkeys about Nuclear weapons in Iran again.

and the best thing about this final battle is that it won't be spilling into any of its neighbors land and will be totally confined to Damascus. no where to run or hide.

that way when its over no one else has to deal with the cleanup.

And Israel. Israel is already hinting on of a planned attack on the chemical weapon sites in Syria. So I would say it would be safe to say that Syria will fire there cruise missiles at Israel.
news.sky.com...

Hundreds of tonnes of Syria's stockpile of deadly nerve gas could fall into the hands of terrorist groups if the regime of Bashar al Assad falls apart amid widening concerns that Israel could go to war to try to stop this 'Doomsday threat'.

no...that's not obvious at all.

that's an escalation no one in the region can ever hope to over come.

when Georgia decided to spill into South Ossetia, the Russians started firing Ballistic missiles on Tbilisi in response. the moment any troops from Syria cross into Lebanon or Israel or any other neighbor.

1. Syria will be the belligerent aggressor and if Iran helps, they will to.
2. The simultaneous response from every corner of the Earth against those nations will be an irrecoverable catastrophe and there will be no recompense for the belligerent.
3. At the Treaty signing 10 hours after the event...Assad and the Iranian Republic will be strapped with more restitution debt than Germany after WWI.

For these reason and more, Syria will not allow any conflict to cross another border; they've already crapped all over the Turkish...they don't have anymore chances.

Just fight and quit acting like a chump is the message to Assad.

If Assad and his army are going down, the temptation to stick it to Israel might be to great!
He may well say, "alright folks we`re surrounded, the linch mob is gonna tear us apart, F$%k it, lets send some fire works over to Israel for for the hell of it! Howabout these apples!!!" All spoken in arabic of course!

that way not only do they die, but they continue to die after they are dead for committing a completely foul act on the way out. i see where you are coming from.

they are already killing their own people, so they obviously hold life in no regard or at least we can all assume their own interests are far more important than anyone's life...so maybe you are right.

Is there a superior way of engaging in War?

utilize 'Rebels' and commence the charade of 'Diplomatic Discussions' Reprimanding the atrocities whilst Supplying the 'Rebels' with such Weaponry, taking control over a country by proxy,

The US and it's backers shall gain control over yet another Country, whilst not even engaging, how can they be condemned when it's not their War?

The Rebels are not 'Freedom Fighters' they are not the 'Honorable Soldiers' and whilst Assad may conceive Atrocities, the Rebels fail to be above him, the Sheep did not condemn Assad until the Media told them too

I've seen that said on ATS a lot. But I honestly dont think i have come across one single post or article claiming the are 'honorable soldiers'. What are you referring to, specifically?

Also, lots of people have been critical of the Assad regime for years. Sure, not front page news on msnbc, but to claim no one was critical of assad until recently isnt accurate.

Syria has been criticized for decades...especially concerning its 29 years long occupation of Lebanon, its support of Hezbollah and its possible role in the assasination of Rafic Hariri.

I suppose some may have forgotten about these things. They may also enjoy proliferating WMDs and exporting terror.

either way...i see the national attention concerning Chicago violence is a sheeple thing occurring on cue...Syria is a notoriously bad neighbor throughout human history.

There appear to be a lot of people who dont really know much about Syria, who think Assad is some kind of angel, merely because he is being opposed through subversion by the West. These are the same people who dont know that people have been critical of Assad for many years now.
