1) property taxes are from the 1800's and mostly to fund public education
or
2) from the early 1900's with basic communal/progressive/socialist aims?

Most educated people think that they belong to the collective. Most uneducated people don't think at all. Sounds like the prelude to the zombie apocalypse.

I always wondered why Yanky houses were so cheap, now I know they make up for it with tax.

Here in Ozz they baned fire saleing houses a while ago, they can sell your house but it has to be close to market value, they can't palm it of to their mate for a carton of beer. You guys should follow suit on that one, if not why arn't you out cashing in on this.

Then you will move into public housing and go on welfare. If you are unwilling to do that, then you need to keep your traitor mouth closed.

Sometimes my mind drifts back to 1956 when the Poles rebelled against the russians, and they sent in the tanks....
The students had a few carbines and such but they went into the restaurant and got plates from the stacks, and turned them upside down out on the roads to simulate anti tank mines......it slowed the tanks down enough to let thrown molotovs to to hit then accurately....well...................

I'm literally sitting in a hotel after an exhausting day of looking at property.

I am one of those people who are leaving ca in droves because of tax rates.

My wife and I have discussed it long and hard, ca is just not worth paying 8k a year on top of everything else that goes with owning land.

Again our incomes are taxed so the very money we would pay prop tax on has already been taxed.

Every property I am shown the first thing I ask now is what's the tax rate, it really can make or break you, I am ruling out whole counties and municipalities simply because of the tax...

Several damn fine place I have walked away shaking my head, 300-400 a month just in tax is pure bs, we picked Oregon so at least we miss out on sales tax...

And you want to talk messed up, I've been shown properties where the previous owner was still there on bank owned land with their permission because they can't afford to leave... I was told if I bought the place they would be kicked out....

Told my realtor if he did that again I would find another realtor, no way am I being the reason a family goes homeless.

No a title company is useless not even the local tax collector has records of these taxes they go so far back as I checked with them. I have no liens against my home none at all. Under the law I have no obligation to pay these assholes. They are crooks and scam artists using legalized extortion and scam tactics to pressure me and others into paying something they don't owe. You should see the letters they send out and how they are worded they are designed to scare you into paying without asking questions.How is a title company going to prevent extortion and a shakedown?

When i speak against the Gestapo property taxes.
I always have some nut job bring up what they think those taxes are paying for.
Here is the main ones:
Schools - I don't have a child in school so bite me.
Police - The last thing I do is call a cop, I will call the morgue and my insurance adjuster.
Fire department - I will pay them if I need them, they should charge on the severity of the fire. And my insurance will pay.
Roads - ours suck so bad I hate to even drive on them so ya, no. They could put the tax on the gas pump, but then we would be paying 500 bucks a gal.

Sometimes I think it would be best for all to stop paying the MOB and when they come to steal, shoot them in the face, ya thats the ticket, in the face, oh wait no in the knees oh ya and stomach make the die hard and suffer.

From a philosophical point of view

....one owns nothing , except the food that goes into the stomach....everything else is just borrowed, and we will leave when dying ....

Everything you pointed out there is subsidized by the Israeli government, not the good ole US of A. And honestly, use your head. While the Israeli lobby groups in the US have a huge amount of power, they quite obviously do not control US foreign policy. If the Israeli government "owned" the US like you always claim, post after post, ad nauseum, we both know that Iran would be a glass parkling lot years ago.

I have posted a little on our event, but feared even mentioning where it happened for they, the township of four people and the courts will come after me if I let it out. Yet I will say this, it is in Northern Mi. and the county is one I dare not mention out of fear, one of the most corrupt and ill run court systems in the state, and this according to others analysis as well as mine.

I am disabled somewhat, five joint replacements, much due to hard labor and injuries sustained fighting a down town fire many years ago. We had a recreation building on the lake which was seldom used and fully permitted and used for 11 years when an administrator from a township arrived and accused us of living in the building which we never did, we only furnished it nicely so we could use it as it was designed and labeled, nothing wrong here.

So he and his boss after attacking myself and being saved by my wife as I was recovering from a recent surgery, went out and accused us of this dire deed and in the end the township sued us in court for living in the building, but never allowed us to defend our selves at the township level, we were tried and convicted by little people of smaller minds and ultimately screwed by the courts whom lied about a rule that never existed.

We were denied the statute of limitation which is 6 years in this case and 11 had passed and so if an infraction had been real, we would have been free. But acting in collusion with the township as he did, the judge would have had us in a series of appeals until we were bankrupt and I was advised by several to retreat and so we agreed to tear down our little haven. We could have won our rights in the end if we could have afforded to go to the state levels in appeals.

Just the other night, this same township tried to ram another ordinance through the County to give them complete judiciary authority in determine if a building was used in a way it was designed for. This would not allow any appeal. For instance, if you create something in a garage, they could make it be torn down as a garage is defined as for a car. So yes, you don't own property, you must beg for permission to even use your own building up here and be in fear of their destruction if the wrong things are done in them or something is stored in them they don't agree with.

My latest, is I am planning on building a closet in my garage on the only property I own here for storage of clothing and know if they find out, I will be attacked for they then from experience will again claim I am living in a building I am not and I will lose my last building on my property, this whole system sucks, I am afraid to even use my property as I am attacked at every event. Just now without my telling my wife I was writing this, she walked by and told me, "I don't know what to do as the township won't get back to us". To quote a township official when I told them they are discriminating, "I can do anything I want".

My father started our very small business 45 years ago. I can remember him going through all kinds of hell with property taxes and federal taxes. I was basically raised on this kind of horror.

We are a rental company, we rent equipment for weddings and small events. We are, as I said, a very small company. 4 employees as of right now, years ago we had at most 8. My dad bought this property alomost 20 years ago and payed an outrageous amount of taxes for all that time. Property tax, school tax, community college tax, not to mention federal and sales.

He died in 2007 and left the company and property to my mom, who operates it with me to this day. When we started getting less and less business in 2007 due to the economy failing, we began to fall behind on all those taxes. I owe around 30,000.00 in property taxes alone. We have been threatened by the county, I have been served by the constable, and we are now being SUED by a lawfirm to pay up or else they close our doors.

This small business is all we have, all we know and for christ sakes how we eat. The onlyoption we have is for my Mom to take out a reverse mortgage on her home, which is completely paid off (but she owes taxes on that as well) to pay off property taxes here at the shop.

We used to consider ourselves middle class. We used to be able to get by without worrying if we had enough money to eat. ...not anymore. I started my own family and I'm worried sick about the future. Sure some people would say SELL! ..This is our family business, you have no idea how hard it is to even consider selling, and even if we did, how would we make a living after that? That money would dry up and we would be back to square one in no time.

All of this is incredibly depressing. There are lawyers and property tax companies circling like vultures, trying to get the last penny in our pockets right now. The things that go through my mind at this point are illegal. The confusion and paranoia that sets in, is absolutely crazy.

Its a business. We were here to make money to support our family. We have been taxed to death literally. We have been beaten by our own government. The American dream doesn't live here and Im starting to wonder if it ever even existed.

As a Professional Land Surveyor, when considering purchasing real estate I cannot stress enough "Get Title Insurance" sure it costs a few bucks but it could save you much more in time, effort and money. Purchasing real estate without a title commitment from a title company is a buyer beware situation.
