Is Barney a Socialist/Communist Corrupting The Young Minds of American Citizens

So... a while back, I watched a great video about Alexander Hamilton, the Constitution, and direction that the United States is heading. That's when I heard the first reference, towards this conspiracy. Which is weird, because this video wasn't about Conspiracy really, although that can be argued.

I don't recall where exactly he says it, but it's somewhere in this video. I'm not going to watch it again just to find the exact moment in which it is said, although it is pretty funny. This guy is dead serious when he says it!

Anyways... So I thought about it today, and decided to do a simple google search, and then I came across this:

However, no other children’s television program in America was as iniquitous and reprehensible as Barney and Friends. The PBS Kids’ TV show about an anthropomorphic purple dinosaur doubles as a pinko commie propaganda machine promoting communism and socialism and exposing young and malleable minds of millions of American children to these dangerous and subversive ideas.

Before we started pointing fingers, let’s see what Barney brings to ‘preschool’ children, its targeted audience group. There were accusations that Barney promotes denial and ill-prepare the children for the existence of unpleasant realities. Many scholars and psychologists detest and denounce the show for it. However, children don’t go to these TV shows to learn about real life, so we need to bring the conversation about Barney to what it is within instead of what it is without.

The next message cements Barney’s stance as the premier agent provocateur of communism. “Sharing is caring” had been his message. In addition to becoming the tag-line of online piracy, the quote shed light into the minds of Barney’s creators (and its masters in Kremlin). Sharing is a communist idea; it leads to a society whose very norms inhibits the personal growth and motivation. How can a person be motivated if his society promotes sharing instead of gaining the benefits through his own exceptional work? It was the flaw with Peter Singer’s model world. In addition to that cheery, idealist society where everyone receives the same wage and the benefits, sharing leads to a brave new world where state-sanctioned theft was promoted. That is Barney’s world. That is Marx’s world.

The best example of this line of thought was epitomized in the song “Peanut Butter and Jelly”. “First you take the peanuts/And you crunch ‘em,/Then you take the grapes/And you squish ‘em,/Then you take the bread/And you spread it” were the lines directly taken from the song. Peanuts symbolize farmers and landowners. Grapes symbolize not only bourgeois class but also religion. (Grapes have been an enduring symbol of faith, fertility). Barney is promoting a society where we oppress farmers, landowners, bourgeois and even religion. To do what? To take the bread and spread it. Ambiguously pronoun there brings back uneasy memories of breadlines behind the Iron Curtain.

“Communism will never destroy America,” proclaimed many politicians. But now as Generation Barney matures as and many who were directly related to Barney show becomes the icons of showbiz, we see America’s sudden turn to the left—nationalizing banks, healthcare, increasing taxation, etc. Those communist, socialist and nihilist ideas ingrained when these kids were little were definitely showing. Are we headed towards a Kleptocractic world where the rule of the jungle (viz., Sherwood Forest) is not only allowed but also sanctioned? It is time to expose this communist conspiracy. It is time to condemn Barney.

I'm yet to make up my mind about this one... as well, I haven't seen an Episode of Barney in years... and even then, I didn't pay attention... I just turned it on for my friends kids that I was watching. I think I will be finding better entertainment next time. Not that it matters, but their mother is a big socialist... we have fun debates to say the least.

Has anybody else ever heard of this Conspiracy? Know of any particular episodes or scenes that promote a socialist or communist ideology?

I want to say that this is pure craziness, and absolutely not true... but, something tells me that there is way too much truth behind this!

And as real spoke pointed out, animals even display this behavior.

They have studied dogs, they have a sense of fairness, and moral behavior, that includes sacrifice of self for the greater whole.

oh come on.. we teach our children to share, people have been doing that for thousands of years.
calling promotion of sharing with each other to teach you to care about someone other than yourself is not evil. to teach empathy to children is not "communism" or "socialism".

children are born greedy, they have to learn to think of others before themselves, because otherwise they wouldn't give anyone anything, even if it wouldn't hurt them to do so. this is natural though, it is ingrained in us to do this.

the type of crap the OP quotes sounds like someone who needed barney when he/she was a child, since they seemed to have never learned how to share, and lives in the 50's.

of course we have yet to really see a true communist state, most are just states that label themselves that because they believe the ideas taught by marx and others, but they get bogged down in greed and power.

of course a communist state is an oxymoron anyway, the idea is that people that follow communism don't have states, they just live in communities.

I'm simply inquiring as to if there is any validity, it's not that I think that Barney is a socialist/communist plant lol.

Most people that expose the Dangers of Communism or Socialism, have very little knowledge of what these two social ideologies entail.

There are many variations of socialism and as such there is no single definition encapsulating all of socialism

How many versions or variations are there of socialism? Just wondering... considering there is no single definition that truly goes to providing a description that applies to all of them. The same goes for communism... so your point is rather moot.

I can think of a whole host of behaviors displayed by the various animals on this planet that are not to be copied by man. AGAIN, your point is moot.

Considering that we have breed dogs for many of thousands of years, I'm sure we are responsible for some of this. If this study was done on wolves, that would be more appropriate. I'm not debating this though... just saying, I'd have to know more about these particular studies to actually take anything worthy from this comment.

I wouldn't claim that this is completely true, but does apply to some. I think you're way off with your comment...

Many family members of mine are conservative business owners, that live, eat and breath capitalist rhetoric... yet, they donate their time for many causes, donate money all the time, and don't want 'all the nuts'. It may seem counter intuitive, but we've had conversations about healthy competition driving markets and innovation... and from what some have concluded: to 'take all the nuts' is destructive towards prosperity and free markets. Ya know, the reason for not allowing monopolies and such.

Sharing is not a communist idea. Sharing must be voluntary. Forcing someone to give up their wealth and possessions at the point of a gun is not sharing, it is stealing.

This is just the communists trying to take credit for something they have nothing to do with in order to legitimize their criminal belief.
