A question about all the phrophecy and revelations related postings

Ive been reading a lot about the bible prophecy and revelations stuff on this board. But I cant help but wonder if any of the prophesies in the Bible have anything to do with the United States. Wasn't the bible written in a time when the middle east, Isreal, etc. were the "center of the world"? Wasn't North America pretty much unknown for quite a while even after revelations was written? Shouldn't all the prophecies be related to the areas that were known at the time the Bible was written? We all seem to think that the "beast" is going to come across the ocean to attack the US. But really, isn't it coming from across the ocean to the middle east or the place of the birth of Christianity? Maybe WE or Europe are the "beast" and the brimstone and natural disasters that signal the end of the world will be happening there, not here.
