Dark City is a good one you might not have seen, has similar themes to the Matrix and Inception but predates them both. Plus Jennifer Connelly is in it.

Memento and or Gattaca are both amazing films.

Science fiction though...

For action I would go with Ip man and Ip man 2. Avoid Ip man 3 like the plague..

"Girl with the dragon tattoo" (american version). or if in the mood for a good documentary check out "zeitgeist"..

For horror, i just watched "Stake Land" and thought it was pretty good. Vampire movie with a zombie-apocalypse feel.

This is a horror but also a comedy. Trust me, if you haven't seen Zombieland you don't know what you are missing. If you want straight horror that is somewhat original House of a Thousand Corpes or The Hills Have Eyes.

"not action or horror for this one but it's grat "Of Mice and Men" the one with John Malcovich is terrific. Also, "Shutter Island" with Dicaprio. Terrific ending!!! Hated it all the way through Til the end brought it all together. Then I had to watch again to see what I had missed.

UGH! I hate when they do that! I either want to be frightened out of my wits or laugh my a$$ off, but not both at the same time.
