More Israeli Atrocities in Gaza: Why Wasn't Israel Discussed at the Bush-Kerry "Debates"?

During the recent pre-election foreign policy debate, neither Bush nor Democratic White House contender John Kerry saw fit even to mention the Israel-Palestine conflict, generally thought to be the Middle Easts core de-stabilising issue:

Especially since the press is beginning to catch on to eyewitness reports of what is happening on the ground in GAZA.

So far 81 people have been killed (70 of them civilians) and over 270 wounded.fatally-injured youngsters were kidnapped by Israeli army soldiers in Gaza from several Ambulances (as well as Hospital ICUs) to die in agony in an Israeli jail and many of the sick actually died on the ground next to Israeli roadblocks 751 at the last UN count where soldiers admit to forcing Palestinians to drink the Israeli soldiers urine.

These are the kinds of horrific reports that are FINALLY starting to come out of Occupied Palestine by EYEWITNESSES these daysand it gets worse..

Under the continuing horror of closure and curfew, when the civilian population cannot even leave the home without the risk of being shot, children cannot go to school nor the sick to hospital, no foreigner is allowed in so that there will be almost NO outside witnesses.

As Kofi Annan rightfully said, ISRAEL DOES NOT FEAR THE GUN, IT FEARS THE VIDEO CAMERA....

And for good reason.

With food sources destroyed in Gaza, food supplies were not even allowed into the area and there has been widespread destruction of the civil infrastructure, with water wells destroyed or deliberately poisoned by the Israeli Army, electricity supplies blown up or regularly switched off, sewage systems gouged out of the earth, and the carbon fibre cables of the telephone network cut and relay masts disabled.

There is now NO drinkable water in the whole of Ghazza (Gaza).
Yet not a PEEP from either one of our presidential contendersand still it gets worse

The Jabaliya Regugee Camp is one of the most densely populated area in Gaza--it houses over 90,000 people in an area of only 3km2. For the Israeli Army (IDF) to dispatch such a large scale military offensive into this tiny area reminds one of the vicious atrocities of the Nazis in WWII

The Israeli Army's heavy weaponry is often imprecise-----tanks shells and missiles launched from overhead apache helicopters and gunships are castrophic to a civilian populationand they know it.

Under the terms of the Fourth Geneva Convention this large scale military offensive is in grave breach of the protection of civilians in the territories (article 146, 147, 33, 53, 49, and 47).

Now the army is in its eighth day of this atrocity and already there has been the shocking use of dis-proportionate force and excessive civilian casualities and injuries.

And to top it all off, last month, the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot reported the Sharon Government has absolutely no intention of following any US backed Roadmap ever

Yet neer a word about Israels defiance of the US or world opinion as to the Road Map ---by either of our Skull&Bones candidates during their phoney-baloney debate the other day

Are the Americans asleep or blind or what?

Amadeus,

I am not surprised. Both candidates are acceptable to AIPAC the main Isreali lobby. The UN is hamstrun by the veto power of the US. That being said, the IDF does have the right to defend its citizens and they did that on the first day. There ongoing operation however, is systematical destroying what little the Palistinians have. The PLO shares the blame in this as well. it was a mistake to ever negotiate with Arafat and he remains a roadblock. But Issreal actions in the West bank and Gaza do IMHO qualify as atrocities.

Israel has never committed any atrocity in the entire time of their existance. They are merely defending themselves from a group of people that refuses to recognize their rights to exist in their homeland.

Israel would never have gone into the Gaza Strip, the West Bank or the Golan Heights if they were left alone in peace. I don't see where the world will say that the attacks on the Israelis is right, but retaliation on the ones responsible is wrong.

Seems to me there are some really serious anti-Israeli sentiments going on, not only here, but everywhere.

If Israel is commiting atrocities then Israel you go ahead and commit them. Little kids can throw rocks pretty hard and acurate. If a little Muslim in Gaza hits an Israeli soldier in the head he could be seriously injured. Israel should shoot the little sucker so he can't injure any more Israeli soldiers. If a civilian picks up a gun he is no longer a civilian....he is now a militant that should be shot by the Israelis to prevent harm to Israeli soldiers. If militants in Gaza are shooting rockets into Jewish communities then the Israeli army should roll in and kill the militants to stop the rocket attacks. It is a pretty simple concept. I'm sure you understand.

Well, as an Israeli, I could see how you could have some perspective on this. Though, I don't even see how one could speak for the whole of Israel.

I have read publications by numerous Israelis condemning their government for the way people are treated. The palestinians definitely do their part, but fight fire with fire? They are perpetuating violence by their own. How can you just dismiss the clear atrocities that are going on there? So many people are being killed that it's hard to keep up with all those that are being killed wrongly by the military. That statement doesn't even factor the individual citizens who commit horrible acts against Palestinians for no justified reason only to be essentially pardoned by the government.

But I guess Zion is above criticism.

Yeah i wonder why there is so much anti semitism in the world today. Could it be that the world isnt so blind as not to see the stupidity of the Israelis. I saw on the news tonight reports that Israeli soldiers were shooting at the hospitals. Probably propaganda, a stray bullet maybe, but all the same Israel is not doing it self any favours these days.

I dislike some Jews because they seem to create so much trouble with their religious vigour, "my god and our promised land". Thats my opinion and in this so called free world im free to dislike some Jews.

When i watch the reports and i see those Israeli tanks which look like they have darleks on top of them i dislike the Jews even more. Them tanks look like they have been designed to terrify, cause they scare the hell out of me. Then they want to build a wall in a time were the world has come to realize that building walls will not solve anything.

The word Jew is becoming synonymous with some bad words i wont list. IMHO

I didnt see the debate but judging by what i have read here at ats its a touchy subject within us politics, so they probably didnt want to go there.

Group:

The larger world sees the recent brutal incusions and "re-occupation" of the Gaza Strip by the IDF Israeli army a LOT differently than the 5 corporate sponsored (controlled) "News" Channels want the American public to view it ... and it is always good to read other points of view--especially when such items are UNDER-REPORTED in the US.

Here are some HIGHLIGHTS of today's UN Security Council Reactions from various national representatives to the recent Israeli Atrocities expressed while working on yet ANOTHER DRAFT Resolution condemning the Israeli killing of women and children in Gaza:

If you want to read the full source, check out:

www.unis.unvienna.org...

[ABDALLAH BAALI (Algeria) The Israeli Prime Minister had publicly boasted about what he had considered to be an early success, and had announced on Sunday that an escalation of the military operation could be expected.

That use of brutal force was clearly part of a deliberate strategy designed to terrorize the Palestinian people, annihilating their will and sense of national pride, leaving them battered and broken.

Israeli actions have constituted War Cimes and acts of State Terrorism, which must be energetically condemned and denounced by the International community as a whole.

JUAN ANTONIO YAEZ-BARNUEVO (Spain) said the high number of Palestinian victims showed that Israel's response was dis-proportionate.

He could not believe that all of them were "terrorists."

I didnt mean to cause any offence but i am wondering why i got a warning for my last post. I think a lot worse has been said about bush and his administration on this forum. And i stated it was my opinion. Am i not entitled to that? Also can someone reply asap as if what i said was really so offensive as to warrant a warning then please explain which part so i can edit.

Probably because you used the word "stupid" though there is much worse that has been said and even the same word used to describe other groups. Most likely because you were talking about Jews, though I'm sure you would not have been warned if Muslims or terrorists were used.

Though I don't agree with you, no worries, hopefully you meant Israelis and even at that SOME Israelis.

Well i edited a bit but i do hope what you said wasnt right Jamuhn. I read my post several times over now and it really is just an opinion. I read through the terms and conditions and it didnt seem to break any of the rules.

More Israeli Atrocities in GAZA: Why Wasn't ISRAEL Discussed at the Bush-Kerry "Debates"?

Perhaps the two issues are not unrelated. Perhaps Israel is choosing to act so aggressively at this time BECAUSE American officials are unable to criticize for political reasons during this close US election.

Wrong

If he had have said muslims =stupid he would have been warned too, that is a religion just like jews and christians

I dont have a problem with terrorist =stupid because there are lots of different terrorists.

I wouldnt have a problem with him saying the Israeli Government is stupid either, he can say what he wishes about any government, but the way he phrased it was bashing a groups religion and that is wrong.

Hey Cimmerius:

I think you might be really on to something there !!

From what you suggest, the murderous and absurd Likkud coalition in Israel is "making murderous hay while the sun shines"----which might not be much longer for them...!!

The US is clearly turning another blind eye to this whole debacle:

But the rest of the world is watching what is happening in Gaza right now....very closely.

When little Palestinian girls have become the favorite targets of Israeli snipers, we should pause and try to remember how we got here.
www.libertyforum.org...
www.guardian.co.uk...

Let's sit at the feet of Mr. Sharon and be instructed.
"I don't know something called International Principles. I vow that I'll burn every Palestinian child (that) will be born in this area. The Palestinian woman and child is more dangerous than the man, because the Palestinian childs existence infers that generations will go on, but the man causes limited danger. I vow that if I was just an Israeli civilian and I met a Palestinian I would burn him and I would make him suffer before killing him. With one hit I've killed 750 Palestinians (in Rafah in 1956). I wanted to encourage my soldiers by raping Arabic girls as the Palestinian women is a slave for Jews, and we do whatever we want to her and nobody tells us what we shall do but we tell others what they shall do."

-- Ariel Sharon, the Butcher of Shatila and Sabra a "man of peace", current Israeli Prime Minister, In an interview with General Ouze Merham, 1956.

Now remember....It isnt jews that control and are the problem just a few leaders and their pets just like in any gov. Some of the anti muslim sentiments are passed along but I do not fault common jews for what they were taught. It can be unlearned same with hate towards the common jew.

For an example of what we are taught,,pop into Yahoo chat sometime and hear both sides in the Jewish rooms 1,2, and 3...anti jew and anti muslim speak. Hate coming from both sides because of how they were taught.

For the ones that may want to throw the antisemite stones please read:
If I hated jews myself I dont think I would have a primary care physcian that was full blooded jewish nor do I think I would love Jon Stewart from the Daily Show.

In Gaza there are now steady reports that more than 50,000 Palestinian civilians are being "detained" against their will (with some being tortured), again with the US Press turning a blind eye to all of this:

Read it and weep, as I do:

Conspiracy Groupies:

Again, why the NEWS Black Out on what's happening in Gaza in the US PRESS?

AGAIN, we have to ask once more: Why no mention of the GAZA atrocities during the so-called 2nd "Debate" between Bush and Kerry last Friday?

The SILENCE in the US Press on the whole Gaza Debacle is deafening---especially considering the fact that nearly 115 Palestinians are dead, of which more than 100 were unarmed children and civilians---and the fact that the drinking water in Gaza has been poisoned (again) by Israeli soldiers....all against the tenets of the 4th Geneva Convention...

The breaking news should be about what we are hearing from Reuters and other international news agencies: ref the disturubing (and "confirmed/unconfirmed") "reports circulating" in various world press agencies (all outside of the US, naturally) that anywhere from 20 to 55 Israelis were killed last night in a "suicide" bombing in Gaza during the so--called "Days of Repentance" raids which began 12 days ago....

Here is a link (for what it is worth): but what we are hearing is a propaganda war on both sides... it would be nice to get a the "whole truth" once in a while....
