New ATS front page ?

New design on the ATS front page looks great lol
all different topics have a color box now
i was surprise by the sudden changes after the refresh

is this only a prototype ... to see if people like ?

We are a long way from :



so much things have a changed since i joined ATS in 2009
the admin really do take care of the site like if it were their baby

That's ... different.

We're experimenting with a bit more "modern" design. This is the first step to making all of ATS a "responsive" site that works well in all screen sizes.

Terrible interface. I don't have anything positive to say. It SUCKS!!

Not a fan of the new front page design. Hopefully it is only temporary. I really don't see the need to change it from what it was before, it worked well how it was.

Yeah and all those boxes make it look like a Warehouse.
Way too crowded, there's just too much going on and you don't even know were to look first. Then you scroll down and there's even more. I don't like it

I think 3-4 of these topic boxes are enough. You don't need to advertise every new topic from every section on the front page.

The new layout completely threw me off, i was waiting for the page to finish loading thinking it was some kind of web or browser glitch, then I sadly told myself I would have to now get comfy with a new look, which seems cluttered and awkward. I am also really hoping this was a temporary thing.

thank god, i thought i was having a stroke.

i like it, read everything you need before browsing the threads, i beleive you could do that before but its alot more readable now.
never really cared about the home page before, now i think i'll spend more time on it.

Dang, I went back and looked at the new home page and it gives me a headache trying to navigate it. Absolutely hidious in my opinion. Fortunately I almost always linger around the Recent Posts page, which is still the same.

hoping my 2 cents adds up with a lot of other people's 2 cents! Change it back!!!

I feel like I might as well go back and try and navigate drudge report, which gave me a headache too.
Seriously, it's like the site was handed over to some community college kids trying to create their first website, no offense.

I subscribe to the theory that "if it isn't broken, don't try to fix it".

I liked the old version better. I won't be using the homepage anymore.

Rarely do I ever actually use the front page, primarily because I have always found it too cluttered. I usually just navigate straight to MyATS or the Recent Topics page.

Having said that, I like the new design. WAY less cluttered and I might actually make use of it now.

Nice work SO.

(By the way, I'm also a web designer in training. I can see how SO is making use of all his knowledge of the subject to determine how to make the front page easy to read, less cluttered and more attractive to newcomers).

The new page is not my cup of tea.

How about, instead of it sucks, you suggest something that you think is better.

Otherwise, dont let the door hit you on the ass when you leave.
