Fukushima was 'man-made' disaster: Japanese probe

Last year's Fukushima nuclear accident was a man-made disaster caused by Japan's culture of "reflexive obedience" and not just the tsunami that hit the plant, a damning parliamentary report said Thursday.

Ingrained collusion between plant operator Tokyo Electric Power, the government and regulators, combined with a lack of any effective oversight led directly to the worst nuclear accident in a generation, the report said.

"They effectively betrayed the nation's right to be safe from nuclear accidents. Therefore, we conclude that the accident was clearly 'man-made'," said the Fukushima Nuclear Accident Independent Investigation Commission.

Now, obviously, the earthquake and resulting tsunami did the physical damage, but I agree with the investigation saying that due to human negligence, and the apparent apathetic nature of the T.E.P, government, regulators etc allowed the accident to become posssible. Its been said again and again, Why would they have built it there?!!

An earlier report by plant operator Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) had all but cleared the huge utility, saying the size of the earthquake and tsunami was beyond all expectations and could not reasonably have been foreseen.

But an independent group of scholars and journalists, who reported their findings in February, said TEPCO could and should have done more.

It also said that had the company had its way, its staff would have been evacuated from the crippled plant and the catastrophe could have spiralled even further out of control.

Yea, imagine if they had evacuated all their staff?! It could have been a lot worse.. well infact it STILL IS a disaster! Look at the rad levels still coming out, the radiation has moved across the globe, affectred fish (the Tuna story, etc) and will most likely affect all of is for countless numbers of years into the future

Thoughts?!

The earthquake wasnt a 9.0 and the tsunami was man made. But you know what, without the conspiracy.....it really pisses me off when they say that they never planned for the earthquake and tsunami together. what the hell? Do they not know what tsunami is? Jesus

Agreed, regardless of how you feel about what caused the tsunami/earthquake (haarp maybe?!) The fact that they didn't plan ahead is the negligence that this report is talking about. I mean come on Japan.. you're history is full of earthquakes and Tsunamis!!! I'm sure in the future things will be different if they plan another one of these nuclear timebombs, lets hope they build it farther inland.. Hell, lets hope they just don't use Nuclear reactors anymore!

Here is another article regarding this report,
DailyMail

'As for direct cause of the accident, the commission reached the conclusion that we cannot definitely say any devices that were important for safety were not damaged by the earthquake,' it said.
'We cannot rule out the possibility that a small-scale LOCA (loss-of-coolant accident) occurred at the reactor No. 1 in particular.'
Although many scientists and activists have questioned the dominant narrative that cooling systems were knocked out by the rising waters, the government and TEPCO have been unwilling to say the reactors could have been damaged by the initial earthquake.
Tectonically-volatile Japan has a network of nuclear reactors that, until Fukushima, had supplied around a third of the nation's electricity

Here is a New York Times Article from today,

The parliamentary report, based on more than 900 hours of hearings and interviews with 1,167 people, suggests that reactor No. 1, in particular, may have suffered earthquake damage — including the possibility that pipes burst from the shaking, leading to a loss of cooling even before the tsunami hit the plant about 30 minutes after the initial earthquake. It emphasized that a full assessment would require better access to the inner workings of the reactors, which could take years.

so a scapegot has been found
of course, have to keep the psyops going

Here is a link to a Tokyo radiation monitoring site located in the Shinjuku area. Note that the highest reading occurred briefly on March 15, but quickly returned to near- normal levels for every day since. This chart covers up to March 19, but you can access the latest chart by visiting the link.

except for the brief spike rad levels are within the norm

Interesting but I see a few flaws in it... one is ..

first the emergency systems used to shutdown the reaction is not steam driven but nitrogen driven. I know I worked at one of these BW boiling reactors.

secondly, the reading would have spiked and then go down since the "contaminated particles" reached the ground.

The real danger is from internal contamination unless you are near the source then you get a direct dose.

wow the insanity in this post is just amazing, if you truly beleive that the tsunami was man made there is no point in ever debating anything with you.

worthless thread...........
