What we do here every day is thanks to men over two hundred years ago who had an idea for an experiment. They didn't know if it was going to work or not. They just tried.

The idea, was put forth, (and eventually amended properly to include everyone) that all men are created equal.

But, are we? Are we truly created equal?

If we were, conservatives would have a very valid point against welfare.

If we aren't, if at that moment where the definition of "life begins" we aren't equal, then that phrase is a lie.

Biologically, of course, we all more or less gestate the same. But what of the home life of that vessel wherein we propagate? That life that fed your life? Is, her's and therefore, your, life equal to someone, with better healthcare, with more means?

Today, aren't we all supposed to be celebrating the time when this country first came together as a true Union?

Why don't we take care of our own, before we invest in defense from outside? The point of the second amendment is that each armed person in this country would stand up together, despite their political differences how this country is governed, would defend it from outside forces.

Would those same people who stand up for gun rights, also defend a draft?

What if military service was mandatory? 4 years right out of high school, Would we be so eager to go to war?

What if we spent what we spent on the military at home, investing in this country, Couldn't we then spend that money on educating our next generations so that they when they get out of the military, be ready for further training in whatever field they may choose.

Do Americans really give that much of a (snip) about the world around them to send our children into combat?

Be honest.

Are we the greatest country in the world?

Be honest

Can we be?

Is it better to spend money outside of the country, or inside?

Do political differences, really matter in the end, when we are all Americans?

Let's not forget that we are armed to protect the constitution from inside forces that would take us down a path of destruction and we have failed for at least a century now maybe longer.

If I had a son, he wouldn't look like Trayvon.

He would look like me!

Are you sure about that? Or is it, that, you would just rather start killing your own countrymen based solely on political differences? Are these forces from inside truly domestic enemies or are they just political rivals you don't agree with?

Wrong! It wasn't an "experiment", or a "dream" or any other bit of sentimentalist rubbish you lot love to trot out about your nations "birth", you revolted because you did not want to muster up some of the costs defending your own colonies with OUR army from the French.

At least you american'ts are consistant in your arrogance and untrustworthiness.

It took about 200 years but who's counting.

Of course not that is why I think it would be a good idea to bring back the draft. It is easy to be all gung ho about going to war when you know that you or your family members and friends can just sit it out and let someone else do the fighting.

God didn't create all men equal.....Sam Colt did

And I also agree that without the great sacrifice by the French troops our revolution would have failed.

Our great experiment is failing not because of our leadership but because of us we the people. We stopped participating in it. We elect our leaders our government is merely a reflection of us. Our government is divided because we are a divided people. We don't know what we want anymore. Some of us want utopian social programs, some of us want a strong military, some of us want low taxes our leaders are trying to give us everything we ask for unfortunately we don't have the money for it all and our debt has become insane. We vote one party in and they try to push their agenda and undo the previous parties programs then we get pissed off and 4 or 8 years later we vote the other guys in and they do the same thing. We aren't moving forward anymore. We the people need to figure out our priorities and then nominate and elect those who will put those forth. Just electing a new president wont work he's just the top of the pyramid every block has to be aligned to our priorities. First though we as Americians need to figure out what we want and how to pay for it all.

Happy Independence Day America! !!!!

I'm sure you could think of a better way to end wars and such rather than starting a mandatory draft where we train our youth by force that war slavery is the best path to freedom of oppression. and tyranny.
To me the idea seems psychologically counter productive.
