When 18 year old Fernando Salgado was using metal objects to penetrate and sexually sodomize his fellow classmates he was not begging for mercy, his family was not there to support him and he was not screaming to go home. Instead he was likely laughing and having the time of his life during those moments where he was using objects like the one below to sexually penetrate his fellow victims:

Happens more then you think.
I once heard a story of a 17 year old on a bus getting held down and raped with a coke bottle.

No sympathy. His acting out in court just proves he is indeed dangerous. That was not remorse, that was fear of getting exactly what he's been giving. Also, why only hazing charges? Why not sexual assault? Screw him, he deserves to be in jail.

The teacher should be in jail also, if he was a witness. Why is the teacher's bail lower than the child's?

They should both count themselves lucky to have an opportunity in court, because if any idiots ever tried to haze a son of mine that way, they wouldn't make it to court.

When I was in high school, we hazed and got hazed a bit, no big deal. 4 seniors tried to put me in an ice bath when I was a freshman, and one ended up missing half the season with a broken arm, and another ended up with a black eye and bloodied nose. The other two didn't speak to me the rest of the year. I never touched the water. Imagine how bad it would have been if they had been trying to sexually assault me!

the crybaby act is just manipulation
he'll just be more careful not to be caught if there's a next time
hopefully his pudgy a** will be , like, totally reamed in jail

He sodomized them with rebar?

And stuff like this?

What the hell is wrong with this guy? That sort of thing could kill a person. Screw him; the family friend said he is not that kind of guy. He is that kind of guy, look at what he used on them. That is screwed the hell up.

Send him to jail, force him into counseling, but keep him in jail. That deserves punishment for sure. Inserting stuff like that into people is beyond messed up.

Hazing is still wrong regardless of the macho jock culture that perpetuates it.

As for that bully? Crocodile tears? He'll probably do it again.

"Hazing" has a negative connotation these days, and the absurd and severe cases we here about are definitely wrong. But a little hazing is a rite of passage. Shaving the heads of the freshmen football players, or making the new guy carry the bags, or making the new employee stand up and give a lengthy speech to the group, or putting a little icy hot in a jock strap, or plenty of other pranks are a fun way to get to know each other and help absorb a new person into a group culture. Not all hazing is bad, but violence and sexual assault certainly are bad. In my opinion that isn't hazing, that is just straight up assault or worse!

The Masons and Shriners used to haze, and still do very mildly, the police forces haze, many employers haze a little. Fraternities of course haze, sports teams haze, hell even my math league hazed. In my opinion there is a huge difference between good-natured hazing as a rite of passage, and straight up assault like we hear about in the news.

For the record, my town is upside down right now over a hazing death at FAMU. They beat a band member to death and left him on the bus. Apparently it was a common practice, but over the years it had gotten completely out of hand, and in the fallout they beloved band director has lost his job, the band is suspended from playing, a boy is dead, 7 or 8 people are going to prison, and 100 kids lost scholarships, and the University president should have resigned already, but he is being stubborn and they board is going to have to force him out.

Violence is bad, but hazing can be fun.

All of those instances do not make it right.

I would not work in an environment where I was treated like crap due to my rank in that structure.

Hazing is for inadequate bullies that must do so to prop up their own fragile self-esteem.

To a certain extent I agree with you. I wouldn't allow myself to be abused either, but I don't mind paying some dues. I cooked the meals for my Mason lodge for a year, I rode the Freshman bus for a year, etc. Lower ranking people salute higher ranking ones.

It isn't always for bullies, sometime it is just to test the metal of the people you are dealing with. I heard a quote somewhere just this week from a football team. It might have been Vince Lombardi, I used some of his stuff this week, but it might have been elsewhere that I read it, anyway, he said, "Yes practice is hard, I make it hard on purpose, because if someone is going to quit, I want them to quit here in practice, and not out on the field where it counts." Or something to that degree. It goes for sports, it goes for war, and it goes for life in general. We all want to know that we can count on the person we are putting our trust in, so there is no harm in testing them a little here and there.

He sure did...It's disgusting, isn't it? We see just how tough bullies really are, in this kid breaking down. I am sure he is very scared of being in Jail...But you know what? I don't think anyone can tell me that he was not old enough to be aware of the consequences of his sick actions.

A person capable of causing such harm to another person....A person capable of doing such sick things, belongs behind bars. As does the teacher who allowed this abuse to take place.
