The 2 party system is a feature, not a bug, of the winner takes all principle.
In parliamentary systems 3rd (4th, 5th etc) parties could establish themselves by getting first 5 then 6 then 10% up to 20% of the vote.
If a 3rd party managed to get 20% of the vote in every district in the US, how many representatives would they get?

If conservatives started their own party and put forth a viable candidate how many votes do you think a run of the mill/cookie cutter republican candidate like a McCain or Romney would get? Not many IMO!

We need options!

Maybe they'd get up to 49% in some states!
Republicans and democrats would get 51.
The great conservatives would get 0 represenattives.

What does a conservative think should be done about the country and economy?

all medical institutions should be privatized? so that means taxpayers would not have tax dollars spent on any medical needs,,,,, thats a big conservative belief i think ...

do conservatives believe that a private institution should receive one cent from the taxpayers?

ok so,,,, society is an economy,, a business....... all members need to eat and work,,, in a recycling manner to have the economy work and for all members to be able to eat and work....... so members of the society start up business,,,, they offer a service and make money,,, another business has a worker which which utilizes the other businesses service,,, times millions,, and that is society and economy,,, throw in the reality of globalization and international trading markets and there is more opportunity for services to be sold and money made.......

with an exponentially growing population,,,,( and this may be minor,,,but,, increasing amounts of technology, robots and machines,, taking more and more jobs) what can the government do to create necessary and beneficial jobs? any time the government moves a muscle it costs the tax payers millions,,,, so to me at least it seems like the government cannot just fix the economy,,, ( which is why I despise the american idol like advertising campaign that is political campaigning,,, who cares about the person representing,,,, millions and millions of dollars spent on that popularity contest,,,, all those debates arguing the same points over and over again,,,,, what will the government actually do? the country is on the same team,, what is this garbage?

what would the bulk of taxes be spent on? if you were thinking as an individual for the entire population of the country,, what should everyones money be used for? ( im definitely not advocating it should all be used,,, maybe some type of investing or saving,,)

I think you want to substitute the word Socialist for the word Fascist. It is in Corporate interests that our government functions.

As seen in today's SCOTUS ruling.

But yes, break from the Republicans... they're about as Conservative as Rush Limbaugh's "bad habits".

I don't think we need a "conservative" party. We need a Libertar...wait a minute!

Where I am from the libertarians where in bed with the NAZIs.
(And the nazis where and still are a viable 3rd party)
They split up, and I even voted for them once!
They were a 5% party for one term, and died a quick death after that.
If libertarians split from the conservatives I think they will find out fast how many 30+ people think they are nuts (I was in my 20ies when I voted for them, biggest mistake I ever made.)

It is part of the plan, they don't want
the dollar to make it. They want it to
fail so they can bring in their new UN currency.
Will not have a choice at that point to give in or die.

Everybody knows it isn't really about politics ~ its about MONEY. Right, left and center ~ its about PROFIT.

Its about the oligarchs vs the people. Politicians are in the oligarch's pockets.

Why do we put up with that? There are ways to get out from under them without breaking a sweat.

www.publicbankinginstitute.org...

Public banking frees the credit potential of public revenues and then harnesses this public wealth to create sustainable, abundant and affordable credit. This credit -- our credit -- supports our economy and citizens if it is then used to build economic capacity (think renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, etc. -- things that private banks do not fund). PBI is committed to public banking becoming a mainstay to support the new economy.

We don't need anybody's "permission" to do this, 18 states are already looking to override the control of profiteers and money junkies. There's a map at the link that shows where your own state stands on this movement.

Unfortunately conservatives aren't smart enough to know what conservatism is.

Look who the GOP is nominating.

You’re missing the point.

The GOP isn’t a conservative group….the GOP is what conservatives need to abandon.

Understood, but that strengthens my point. People in the GOP *generally* would consider themselves as "conservative".

Now back to your point; "The GOP isn’t a conservative group..."

Get it? They aren't smart enough to know they aren't *really* conservative. :-)

I'm being a turd, sorry. But i do agree in principle. True conservatives need to abandon the GOP & allow it to whither & die. Perhaps flood the Constitution Party? I don't know. The Dems, likewise, need to stop pretending to be 'for the middle class' & admit they are communists/socialists which are just other brands of collectivism.

People need to wake from the fallacy of the left/right paradigm. Both lead to collectivism (all power in very few hands) of one brand or another (socialism/communism on the left, fascism/corporatism on the right).

The Founders believed in a different paradigm. Collectivism on the left & anarchy on the right. They were (generally) right-leaning centrists. Just enough government to keep anarchy at bay.
Collectivism--------------------------------------------------------X--------Anarchy

We have shifted on this scale to the opposite; juuuust enough freedom to keep the masses from revolting.
Collectivism-----------X-----------------------------------------------------Anarchy

I fear it is too late for us. The republic has already die & has been replaced with a democracy.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship." ~ Alexis de Tocqueville

[i wrote several paragraphs after this but started wandering, so i'll just end this here]

Republic ->Head of state is a President
Monarchy ->Head of state is a King

Democracy -> The power is by the people and wielded by them either directly or through elected representatives
Other-cracys -> power rests in somebody else. theo=god, pluto=money, aristo=kings and stuff etc...

So, now class, what is the UK? A republic or a democracy?
It's a constitutional monarchy!
(Head of state is the queen, yet her powers are very limited and most power rests in the 2 houses of parliament, which is half democratic and half aristocratic)
