Turkish officials have told Western countries that Turkey might launch a military operation in Syria's north to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad's regime, a Kuwaiti newspaper reported on Monday. “Turkey informed Britain, France, Italy, Germany and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) leadership of the possibility that it would launch an offensive in … Aleppo, Homs, Hama and Latakia,” As-Seyassah daily quoted an unnamed British officials as saying, according to the Lebanese news website nowlebanon.com. The report comes amid fears of undesired confrontation between the Turkish and Syrian armies along the border. About 12,000 Syrians have fled their homes in northern towns and have taken refuge on the Turkish side of the border. The Syrian army is reportedly reinforcing troops near the Turkish border to prevent further inflows of refugees towards Turkey. The Turkish military is also reportedly considering reinforcing border troops. Senior Turkish commanders have recently traveled to the border province of Hatay to inspect the border area.

Why should we take your word for it? How are you more credible than they are? Seems to me you are expressing nothing more than an opinion, backed up by no supporting material whatsoever. If this is the best you can do, I see no reason to find your position at all credible.

Wow! Really got under your skin, didnt I?

Not particularly. Relax. You're not that important. It's just that I don't think you know what you are talking about. My point is that you haven't made your case. You are hiding under the wings of an Israeli policy. As a matter of policy they won't talk about it, so you say, "See, they have never talked about it, therefore it's not their policy."

You don't have a leg to stand on. I don't see why anyone should take you seriously considering the weakness of your argument.

Hey, whatever floats your boat!

If you want to go on believing everything you read in the media, be my guest. This man doesnt list his sources, and gets paid well for being a shill. Not a bad gig really.

Me? I tend to put more credence into authors who list references that back up their claims.

Well, here we go.

Well, this could be the start of something unpleasant - this could easily involve the entire middle east and if the bigger powers get involved then all bets are off.

Simply put, I agree and hope they are wrong. I agree that a military invasion is not the way to go and will only cause more problems. Let's hope that in the end, Turkey agrees with you and me.

Yeah.

Syria's got that kind of power.

Go ahead and launch 'em. Let's see who gets erased first, Syria or "the west".

Brilliant plan.

Some folks have no business even thinking about swords.

Which you have yet to do. You have provided zero references, yet you want others to. Do you think you are exempt?

Are you just about done?

My point is, yes, dont take my word for it. But dont take his either! He lists as many sources who back his claims as i do. Zero.

And im not making any claims. Simply saying that we have no reason to believe in the Samson Option, because it has never been proved nor verified by someone who would know about it. What cant you grasp about this simple fact?

Yup that's about right .

You haven't done much recon work, I see.

Why do you suppose a reconnaissance plane was flying over that area to begin with? You think it might have had something to do with making sure of where the shells were coming from?

Smooth move for the Syrians to shoot it down and then take government responsibility for hiding the evidence of who is shelling by making apology for shooting it down to begin with.

Why do you think Syria is covering for their opposition in the Muslim Brotherhood?

Slayer alluded to them using an old plane to test air defenses.. Methinks that is the case.. And to see if the Russians are operating the SAM batteries

Pretty sure they didnt know it was a Turkish airplane

turkey was probably doing a reconaisance flight

If that plane was from the US .. we would be in war now

Well, wrong though... we would have been at war the moment a US plane entered their airspace. Them shooting us down would be like you shooting a burglar in your home, in self defense.

The act of aggression is entering another country's domain without asking permission.
