Mr Assange is fighting extradition to Sweden, where he faces accusations of raping a woman and sexually molesting and coercing another in Stockholm in August 2010 while on a visit to give a lecture.

Mr Assange, whose WikiLeaks website has published a mass of leaked diplomatic cables that embarrassed several governments and international businesses, says the sex was consensual and the allegations against him are politically motivated.

In my opinion, I don't think he raped anyone. He just embarrassed the US government in a very bad way.

What I want to know is when the Australian government is going to do something about this. Fair enough if he goes to Sweden for questioning, if from there he faces extradition to the United States I think it is an obligation that the Australian government blocks it. If not I fear he will not be given a fair trail or even be seen from again.

I don't know how anyone could take this case seriously. By all means, investigate reports of victims of sexual assault, but they're calling it "surprise sex", or sex without a condom. It's not "rape", it's an entirely different matter considering they had previously already had sex, and the "surprise" bit came about when they were sleeping in bed naked.

Obviously not a rape. But that doesn't matter, does it.. ? Because they hit him with the "taboo card", as long as it infers to rape then the damage is done. They really are going after him for this... INTERPOL.. house arrest, daily check-ins and strict bail conditions..

Yet it took how many years for Roman Polanski to get pinched, for literally drugging, raping and sodomizing a minor? He got "house arrest" in his chalet in the Swiss Alps.. That was the most recent, high-profile case of similar circumstances.

Though to be fair, Polanski's case runs even deeper in conspiracy than Assange's.

If I may ask - what is the deeper conspiracy to Polanski's case?

I do not doubt that there is, I have just never heard of it yet.
