Reports of officers down in North Spokane

NORTH SPOKANE-- Emergency crews are responding to Newport Hwy and Elm for reports off two officers down.

KREM 2 News is heading to the scene.

Scanner traffic indicates police are looking for man in a SUV possibly blue or black Tahoe. The man is described as a man in his 40's with longer hair, possibly a wig.

Police radio is saying that there are multiple people in the SUV, including a child. or so they BELIEVE..

No way yet to understand WHY this is going on, and no word on the condition of the two officers.

They are still trying to find the suspect. Radio channel 1 is for the suspect vehicle. They have the officers dealing with the downed officers on a different channel, so unable to find out more details on that side of the incident.

Currently Police are in pursuit of the suspect in another vehicle.

Not heard a description of the vehicle, but supposedly police are reporting others in the vehicle.

Lot of chatter over the radio, a lot of it is hard to follow, so if I make a mistake on some info, my apologies.

Units have been ordered to back off of the suspect vehicle.

Update on the Officers, one is "ok" the other is in emergency surgery.

Hmm don't think the reports of suicide are confirmed yet. at least I haven't heard.

Turned off the news, listening to scanner.. they know they have 1 male suspect, white, but they are trying to confirm another possible African-American suspect.

Hope the officers survive and they get
this idiot before someone else or
his family is injured or killed.

I love how people get all upset over a cop who gets killed in the line of duty without even knowing or caring what kind of cop it was.
It is an emotional trigger.
We are conditioned to root for the opressors.

Would this upset anyone if it was found out that last week one of these cops tazed an elderly woman?

Or how about a 5 yr old little girl?


These days, ****the odds are**** that these cops were just as much of a scumbag as the guy who shot them.

No sympathy from me.

This does NOT mean I think they deserved it or had it coming to them.
It does NOT mean I hope they die.
cuz we all know someone is going to accuse me of saying or implying that.

While I feel for the officers families etc, one has to ask...

Why is this being posted on ATS? This is "run of the mill" local news for some town in the US. Hardly "Breaking alternative news", or even news really, officers get killed all the time...

Actually, no, it doesn't happen all the time. In fact, last year was a high-count year with over 100+ officers killed.

One hundred officers is a lot.

More so, I am posting this here as it is un-common for someone to open fire on police with an SUV full of other people. (Another male, a female, and a toddler are reported to have been in the vehicle @ the time of the shooting).

Perhaps it is in the wrong forum, but the ATS Gods will correct that if they deem necessary.

... OR he could have been my son-in-law Dedicated to helping people -- loves and takes care of my daughter and my granddaughters. He has lots of friends - good men. You have a problem with a man like this????

More than anything this is the kind of story that belongs here. Just one example is gun prohibition and these types of happenings that make weapons like the one Screwed is holding look very bad indeed.

I am completely against gun prohibition.

All the more reason for you Screwed, to be praying for these guys to pull thru Wouldn't you say ?

screwed has agreed to lay off. Lets respect that by laying off of him. He is entitled to his opinion.

Updates:

The suspect reportedly shot himself in the head near Hwy 395 & Crawford.

They are trying to get to others supposedly hiding in a trailer. (The other couple and the toddler).

One officer was shot in the leg, the other, shot in the arms and a leg..

Now beings the "What were they thinking!!??" and "Why?"..

Harder to answer as the main suspect is deceased.
