Yeah America has been sold out for a vote, and that includes immigration.

People think the US has draconian immigration laws in fact there are far worse out there in the world.

One thing is for sure when the economy crashes and the government immigration will be the least of our worries.

Not true, that law was changed back in 2008.

Immigration Is Not A Felony In Mexico

In 2008, the Mexican Congress voted unanimously with 393 votes to decriminalize undocumented immigration to Mexico.

Seriously...what happened to:

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

There was a time when America needed every person that it could find to immigrate over in order to realize this country's full economic potential. That time has passed and these words in no way reflect how this country's government or people should view present day immigration. What happened to it? It became irrelevant.

Haven't spent much time in Mexico have you FF?

I have.... and you can pay the "Mordida" and walk. You can stay in Mexico as long as you want if you know who to bribe. It's also very easy to get "papel Trabajo" [working papers] or student papers, whether you are working or studying, or not.

To experience true freedom [at a price] go to Mexico. I love Mexico, Mexicans, the beaches, the waves, the lifestyle at about 1/3rd the cost of the US. petrol..........2.25 gal. beer......50 a bottle with complementary snacks.

adios....

I don't even have to read the OP to spot the logical fallacy...lest you genuinely have aspirations for the USA to be like Mexico? Or should we adopt their policies? See nothing wrong with that thinking?

Mexico has jobs. Mexico has agriculture, gold mning, construction, all the same jobs they do here when they sneek over the border. They just get paid lower there. What Americans want to emigrate to Mexico to get lower paid jobs than they can have here? But it would be funny to see. The thing is Mexico has stricter punishments. They do not tolerate illegals from El Salvador or anywhere else for that matter.
Here's one story

Beltrán Rodríguez had arrived in Mexico with 950 pesos, about $76, enough to last him to the U.S. border. But near Tierra Blanca, Veracruz, he says municipal police had detained him, driven him to a deserted road and taken his money. He had been surviving since then by begging.

Seems that recently they have recently changed their laws due to pressure from acivists

Abuses by Mexican authorities have persisted even as Mexico has relaxed its rules against illegal immigrants in recent years, according to the National Human Rights Commission.

Mexican law calls for six to 12 years of prison and up to $46,000 in fines for anyone who shelters or transports illegal immigrants. The Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that the law applies only to people who do it for money.

www.usatoday.com...

But I am wondering if some of this relaxing of the rules isn't because they know these migrants are really trying to go through Mexico to get to the USA and from there the migrants can be used to help retake the Southwest for Mexico. IN a general sense though, we know the Mexican Presidents have been on board with the NAU plans for open borders, and this is being pushed by leftists too.

For instance, here's an article from 2006 on George Soros and Open Borders

George Soros uses a vast network of special interest groups and non-governmental organizations, in the United States and abroad, to support his global objective — a one-world government.

Open borders are a stepping stone in his efforts to put into action his open-society philosophy. What form will a one-world government take? Not surprisingly it will be a billionaire oligarchy. What sort of billionaire? To begin with, try one George Soros.

Soros provided the following definition of an open society in his article, "The Capitalist Threat," in the February 1997 "Atlantic Monthly": "Societies derive their cohesion from shared values . . . religion, history, and tradition. When a society does not have boundaries where are the shared values to be found? . . . the concept of the open society itself."

archive.newsmax.com...

Of course Soros is one of the biggest leftist propagandists of today and a tool of the Rothschilds.

What's the living arrangement there? You gotta a nice place? IF you are a woman, would you have to worry about being abducted? Is the crime and drug running only in the border towns?

Are you by any chance in Cozumel retiring on acquired wealth? Cause my Dad used to go diving in Cozumel. I don't know that other places would be necessarily safe. Cozumel was also one of the places they did the "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" episodes.

The only person this sounds horrible to is an immigrant….because they want all their friends to be able to come over too!

That’s another thing when it comes to immigration policy it should be made by native people not immigrants…story but an immigrants wishes come second!

multiculturalism clearly has its limits that’s what I have learned.

The UK is totally overrun with immigrants, you could compare it to a roach infestation….quick someone grab the spray!

Actually America does have strict immigration laws. It's just that we have very long borders, largely open and people just walk across. And find plenty of jobs paying them slave wages. Sections of The American economy is largely based on immigrant labor in the service industries. The meat packing industry would fold up with out cheap labor as would the hotel/maid sector and there are plenty more. If they work and pay taxes.....amnesty.

The thing is we don't have 1 million Americans desperately trying to get into Mexico every year and running the border illegally to do so....there is a difference. I don't think Mexico offers them welfare and hospitalization for the rest of their lives either. People are so silly when they think Mexico is a good deal.

Yes, it is being used Cloward Piven style to destroy us from within. I am all for multiculturalism and diversity but it has to be tempered with practicality.

Bottom line is, instead of the US Government fighting with states when they try to enforce immigration laws the federal government needs to actually enforce the laws themselves.

Haven't they:
abcnews.go.com...

Deportation under Obama has hit some real milestones for those immigrant haters out there. Still hasn't helped our economy out much. Hell I think it's actually hurt it.

I guess Obama hasn't gotten around to an EO on stopping ICE...oh wait, didn't he just make an announcement giving work permits to people? Yes, he is trying to get to this issue....

Well, of course it helps to speak Spanish but if you are a nice polite person; Mexicans respond in kind. Don't be an Ugly American with typical tourist arrogance. This will make you a target.

I'm an older surf bum, live in my van, with friends and sometimes rent a casita; and mind my own business. I mainly go to the West coast of Baja and there are plenty of women surfers and hippies I know that have no problems, but they usually have or meet a companion. I think it's paradise!!

I can live a fantastic lifestyle on my meager retirement but I haven't lived there recently as I'm back in the workforce here in the US.

Yea, the businesses are tired of paying us "top dollar," so they welcome all the illegals who will work for less. There may not even be very many of them working illegally, but it's enough to piss off Americans during this time when work is hard to find. They don't care if it divides our nation. The people themselves don't rally together enough. Take to the streets! This country is slowly falling apart but people seem to rather ignore it until it's too late. If the changes come slowly enough, few people get upset. Lost cause.

Some businesses maybe, others are fingerprinting all job applicants to be sure they are not illegal. We need to let ICE do it's job instead of making every American be fingerprinted to get jobs.

Hmm sounds great, except this:

Originally posted by FlyersFan Foreigners entering Mexico illegally are sent to prison for two years. Repeat offenders go to prison for ten.

They should be deported. One way. No meeting on the other side. Just send em back to their largest international airport.

I know this from personal experience, my husband works construction, every year the crews come up, work, live, eat , sleep together in same home, in the fall they go back.
Then we have all these American roofers with no jobs.

The other crap people who are pro immigration keep spouting out their mouth is that immigrants bring with them so much in the way of skill, new knowledge and enhance our culture!….if this was in anyway true how comes every place that gets overrun with immigrants experiences increased crime, increased unemployment, increase in people drawing benefits, increased drug abuse. Generally speaking the area experiences a social, economic decline, shops close and the place quickly transforms into a dump no one wants to live in....yeah they enhance our lives..what a joke!

In my opinion we do not need to look at another country's immigration policy for ways to improve the US's policy.

The US's immigration laws are quite adequate, we just fail in immigration enforcement! Why are we not enforcing the laws on the books?

So I would say that this entire debate is irrelevant until we can learn to follow-through on the laws we have in place.

I haven't found that to be the case. In most urban big cities there are ethnic neighborhoods that are clean with a very middle class, family oriented population.

Where you find the crap like you described is in the ghettos and trailer parks of Americans, not in immigrant ethnic neighborhoods.
