Social network plans to continue to support the facial-recognition software company's developer community, though what it has planned for the service is unknown.

The company has been around a while and was known to create the app's for facebook so people can find photos of themselves, tagging I think it is called.

So how long is it until it is hooked up with CCTV, Road cameras and a whole range of things I cannot think of?

When will the first "Your friend has been caught shoplifting" auto-post appear, LOL.

Do you have a source for this, not that I use Facebook, but I'm interested in knowing about this.

Oh here it is
Face.com

I don't like it. Too invasive.
This technology is getting out of control.

I just had a horrible thought whilst cooking supper.

Who is to say that I have a situation where I feel harassed, I take a photo of this person, create a new account and scan for my "new" picture. I then find out the real person behind the image and can take it from there!

What if I printed a mask from this image and committed a serious crime whilst wearing said mask, would they track the other person down and they would be defenseless?

It has many sinister uses just expanding from that. Finding someone by picture

So if you snap a photo of a group shot, upload it and whoever happens to end up in that photo will be recognized and named without their consent?
What a mess

It requires Facebook account go use the app. I installed it to see what it was, but need to login. I don't have FB. I'm sure it will soon connect to twitter and YouTube.

There's just no privacy anymore.

How far away are we from having mandatory cameras in our homes?

How long until? -2 years I'd say. This is old news. Not saying it's not shocking.

I heard about that.

This face thing can detect approximate age, gender and mood. What if you're secretly a cross dresser ? Transgender? It would know and expose you? Just wondering.

Now that FB own it there is no doubt that it's uses will be much wider than what is available now on that app.

It must also be a tactical purchase for some mobile use I would expect as that is where they need to make some headway.$$$$$$$$$

Hi,
So I would assume that webcams have a huge role in this?

remote access

Something seems backwards here.

I don't understand how it works but I thought you use the KLIK app or other apps that you use as a camera to snap photos.

The remote access is another story, available with certain apps. One could operate their web cam, mouse or keyboard at their computer and see what it's filming using mobile or another pc.

You can install a mini cam app on your phone, set it up to film and watch the live view from another computer or mobile device that alsoHas the same app

Unfortunate for the herd-

Then there are the ones that can engineer reality and control the sun that can not only shapeshift their physical appearance but reality in the surrounding enviroment of others.

very unfortunate for the ones doing the surveillance that are creating and perfecting these technologies
