The only card I've got to give is a get well card. I hope you'll shake off that fever and get well real soon. Drink lots of water ~ just not the kind your city ordinances call for.

However, as I said, it is the law of the land.

No, the only thing the "city" has behind them is the taxpayers money. If these scumbags had to pay the liars themself, it would be a much different story.
These scumbags are put into office by the taxpayers. If the scumbags didn't have the votes and support of the public, they wouldn't be in office.
Back to what I was saying a page or so ago about the chambers of commerce. Try winning a local election without the chamber on your side. It won't happen.
I was elected mayor of my hometown when I was 18 years old and still in High School.

When I say "liar" I mean lawyer. They are one in the same. Our lawyers speak another language. Anyone with any knowledge of the law knows this. That is why a law dictionary exists. So again, what "law" is it that you assume I am breaking?

Then you are jumping to conclusions that aren't supported by the information presented.
Understanding law is not approval of the system.

What kinds of things do you do to change the system?
Maybe this Tulsa woman could get you to represent her pro bono? Wait, that probably wouldn't be a good idea.
I vote.
I sign petitions.
I donate my time to political causes I personally support.
I give money when I can.
I don't make more than 35k a year so I get all of my federal income taxes back so nothing goes to the war effort.
I drive a Nissan Leaf so as not to give any money to Big Oil.
I am a vegan and do not support machine farming.
The list can go on if you want it to. I am happy to continue this in u2u as I am not interested in derailing the thread any more defending against ad hominem.

Its not necessary to go on, I get the point. My question to you is, then, have you seen your efforts having any impact on the direction this country or your local area is going? Powerful hands have taken the reins federally, statewise and in even in the smallest towns. None of what we can do as individuals has any effect, only groups such as ngos who actually do have plans and end goals can make changes ~ and often not good ones for us.
As I am done entertaining this off topic chatter inside of the thread, I will leave you with this as an answer to your question. It is up to you to decide how it applies.
“If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change. As a man changes his own nature, so does the attitude of the world change towards him. … We need not wait to see what others do.”

Do you REALLY think that's the case here, and not that someone filed a complaint, and the city workers are idiots?
Because I know TONS of people who grow food in the states. The 'government' ha never prevented them fro doing so.
Heck, a buddy of mine recently got a grant from the USDA to build new greenhouses on his land.edit on 16-6-2012 by stanguilles7 because: (no reason given)

Really... I know plenty of people, myself included, who grow their own vegetables/fruit in their backyard, or even front, and the government doesn't come cutting our stuff down or anything. They've actually been pretty helpful for a neighbor when some neighborhood kids vandalized their front yard plants. Or maybe myself and everyone I know are having our gardens secretly sprayed at night by the government, hell bent on giving us sicknesses, mind controlling chemicals or whatever other evil thing they do.
