Its actually 3. Worried about the United States Government dragging us into a war with our friend China and destroying our economy. Also my brother lives in NT right next to where America is sending troops so he is right where an attack could take place.

Sorry?? An attack? And who would be attacking Australia? This sounds like a very thinly veiled threat. I find threats unpleasant, they tend to make me irritable and uncooperative. Will I be re-educated, or am I too old to be salvaged?

Who is threatening who? What the heck are you talking about?

China would be attacking Australia because china and the US are on a path for war. Why do you think the US is building up its military in Australia? We are right near them. Unlike you on the other side of the world from your war as usual.

No, that's not what I mean.

Let me calm myself. Your fear is, apparently, a US - China war. Set aside for a moment that it would make no sense. Sure there is concern about a number of things China is doing, but we can't even bring ourselves to go after Iran or Syria. A war with China, started by the US is incredibly unlikely.

Second, if a war were to occur, it would not be US - China, it would be US plus a lot of people against China plus a lot of people. In a situation like that why would China be concerned about a small number of troops in Australia when there are so many more resources in South Korea and other nearby places. Australia would pose only a tertiary threat, one to be cleaned up at leisure.

So when you speak of an attack by China on Australian soil, it seems more likely that it would be part of a first strike by China, or at least an attack that could be carried out in an instant whenever China chose.

That is a threat.

It will buy up all the resources with their new reserve currency, have austrailians do all the dumb grunt work for little to no wages, give the good jobs to chinese managing you grunts, and if you guys don't like it they will place a big military base to beat you aussies into submission. And all those resources you have will not benefit the aussies only the chinese homeland.

That is not a threat. china could attack us whenever it chose. Why couldnt they. We cant defend against them. All your troops are doing is annoying them and risking our economy.

And we are not a 'tertairy' threat. Why do you think there is a build up? And you think South Korea has more resources? WA would be annexed straight away. They want to be Chinese so that wont be hard. And if you mean militarily, wrong again. Our location makes us very important. We are also the strongest allies of the US in this area. You obviously have no idea what so ever in relation to this part of the world. None. At all.

And since you insult us with your arrogance (as usual ) then you will not need our help then will you? So there is no need to 'shift focus to the pacific' as Obama said. America never stops do they? It sint about what we think of each other. I have no problem with Americans. No problem with Chinese. I do have a problem with the US Government. The Chinese Government has done nothing but be fair with us.

To try and add some resolution, China and America both have shocking human rights records and both have done a lot of good and bad for Australia and the world. To see these issues you raise as a simple 'with us or against us' decision is just a call to more war and violence as the last one standing takes the cake. Considering the capabilities of both this will be the cockroaches.

It has taken a lot of time and pain to understand the nature of this world. As we kill the fish to eat, so does the corporation kill us to feed as well. Australia is currently very much under control by the oligarchy and this does sadden me as there is no honour in the lies they present to undertake global conflict. Unless we are fighting for truth and justice all we will find is more blood as the answers continue to elude us.

China does appear to be more respectful in the self determination of nations it conducts work in with stability a major aim of long term projects. The US has tended to use more short term advantages. Sure there are exceptions, but on the overall general global approach this is how I see it.

The global economy does have a lot of problems and I do hold respect for the people trying to bring some accountability and fairness into the system. It is no easy job with so much complexity, competition and self interest interfering with the task at hand. It is wise that BRIC's does move to reinforce their own economies as the black hole accounting system of the US is funding the ongoing wars to much detriment. Hyperinflation is very much on the horizon for the US and as it continues to isolate itself through its foreign policy it is only set to increase unless significant changes are made.

As an Australian, I am first and foremost a human and one of so many billion on this planet. I do not care where the good ideas and fairness comes from but this is what I respect. While there are people there will be problems, we can either learn to work through them or let them get the better of us all.

in my opinion, if possible, lets milk both of them as much as possible.....after WW3, i like to think that Australia would be left the only one unscathed but that will be wishful thinking.

Chinses owned mines, forestry plantations, manifacturers and a whole hoste of other things, are amongst the highest paied jobs in Australia.

Some of the Mine workers bring home nearly $2400 a week.

What China dose within it's own borders is China's business. But the people they contract to run their external operatonsions in Australia are paied well and treated even better..

China dose want a good relationship with Australia and I for one wealcome this, they can do more for us economically than the US eveer could..

And "NO", I am not an asian speaking for an asian country ..!! I am not a communist..!!

You are proving my point. They do have to go through Australia. Unlike some arrogant Americans might think, Australia is Americas most important ally in this part of the world. If we teamed up with China, and they would love for us to, then we could isolate Americas other allies in the region. Australia and China could dominate the asia pacific.

And like you said, Australia will be attacked first. We must end the alliance. It does nothing for us.

I am serious. I actually felt a little better about the whole thing when I had that realization. Australia will still be good even if we lose. It would suck if China lost for us though. We would go back to being on the wrong side of the world again. I cant see it happening though.

What do you think about the South China Sea dispute?

China comes off as an a-hole on that issue, and they aren't superpower yet.
If ww3 ever happens, pray that the side that favors human rights, democracy, freedom, equality wins.
Otherwise, learning chinese while working for 50 cents an hour would suck, inmensely.
