The homeless man who had 80 per cent of his face chewed off in a horrific attack along a busy Miami highway is now 'awake and alert', according to doctors at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.

He has talked about swimming, which he used to enjoy, and he has asked for pizza, orange juice and Italian food.

The photographs are not pretty! He will require extensive reconstructive surgery and he has also lost one eye, possibly the other.

Not exactly the thing for which you want to gain any 'celebrity' status.

All things considered I would say his spirits are good. His recovery and attitude could prove to be very inspirational.

I wish him a speedy recovery. He has my prayers.

At least he has a roof over his head and three meals a day now.
Obviously doesn't compare to having a face.
A blessing in a hideous disguise.

He does not have 80% of his face gone. He has 50% of his face gone. If your going to report something, least check the facts. Lost his nose and his eye due to the incident.

And yet I read on ATS that when they examined the stomach contents of the supposed zombie man, no human flesh was found. Something seems very wrong with this story. How can you eat 50% of a face and have no traces of it in your body?

The hospital said they were not going to release his photos, but someone obviously did, which is totally wrong in my book. I mean the guy has been through enough.

Regardless, which is worse?
A)getting your lips ripped off
B)losing your eyes, oh, and your nose
I say it's closer to 80% but wtf difference does it make? This guy got messed up bad.

Well, atleast we know the guy who ate his face wasn't a zombie.
Or else we would have a faceless zombie roaming the hospital.
