Phoenix set to reassess fluoridation

www.azcentral.com

Anti-fluoride activists have continued to rally against municipal fluoridation of water for decades, worried that overdoses could lead to weight gain and muscle pains from thyroid problems, discoloration of teeth and other yet-to-be-discovered side effects. They also worry that ingesting too much fluoride could damage bones the same way it has been found to eat away at tooth enamel.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this but it seemed closest. I also searched and didn't see this posted anywhere. Personally I'm not that hung up on the fluoride thing, but I know a lot of people here are and thought some of you may find it interesting. The tap water here sucks anyway and I don't drink it. The article mostly says Phoenix may be stopping this practice due to budgeting. I actually heard about this on the radio driving home last night. On the local radio they interviewed someone (didn't catch the name) that was saying we get plenty of fluoride as is and the extra in the water is actually damaging, etc. And he apparently had spoken to some of the city council members about it. Who knows, maybe this will be going away.

Not only does it suck but it can make you sick if you have a weak stomach. Salt River Project is truly a pathetic water and utility company..... PATHETIC!

Have they rolled out ubiquitous picocells in that area? Just asking. No particular reason (whistling fades).

I'm beginning to think AZ and TX are going to have a tag team match against the feds. lol. Both are heavy on gun rights and the "get the hell out of my backyard" attitude. Solarstorm...if you are here quick question: have you heard anything about the fish in the canals? I've heard two extremes. Some people say if you fish in the urban lakes or canals you should never eat them because of pollution/etc. Others have told me the Salt River is what feeds the canals and it's just like fishing in the river.

With LTE being the emerging technology and the fact that picocells are highly important to backhaul, you're going to see them everywhere. They were already heavily in use by GSM based carriers. What is the issue with that? Did I miss something here?

You're not that hung up on it OP? Fluoridating water started with Hitler in his Jew camps. I guess he just wanted to make sure their teeth were nice and clean before he executed them right?

OP you need to check up on your facts. This isn't a laughing matter. You can live in denial (and it's not just a river in Egypt) all you want, but please don't push your ignorance on others.

Phoenix can't stop fluoridating the water or they'll lose the free money they get.

I heard the maker of Viagra gives cities $1 million to use fluoride. Fluoride makes men go limp and need to buy Viagra.

Phoenix won't give up the free money.

Agreed!

At the least, it is mass medication without consent. People need water to live and those behind fluoridation take advantage of that.

It seems they want the american people to awaken and revolt as it will give an excuse for martial law.

I wish they would ban fluorides and chlorides out of our water forever. Everyone in my family is allergic to them. I can't drink water because of these chemicals without boiling the water (like in coffee) or letting it sit for a week as these chemicals gas out.
What does it do to me - I get dry skin eczema, dry mouth, boils, skin rashes, sick stomach and the list goes on.
I am of Native American and German genetic heritage and I believe this is the reason. I can drink pure creek water but that is hard to find now days unless I go way out in the countryside. River water is polluted with massive other chemicals so bad so that I am amazed fish can live in it! I can't even swim in rivers anymore unless I find one way out of the city that doesn't have chemical run off into it.

They have to scale back the plan, as the fluoride has worked too well. The population is now too retarded to remember the words to the Obama slogan.

I hope big cities follow suit soon. It truly is poison even in smaller quantities over time.

Albuquerque cuts flouride out of water supply too. It looks like its catching on now with Arizona doing it too.

Now if onlywe can get gmo crops banned too.

I am aware of what the Nile is. Ignorance and disagreement are not always the same thing. I'm saying I have seen the things people say about fluoridating the tap water but I have yet to see any affects people speak of. Considering the fluoride we get daily in toothpastes, mouth washes, etc I see no point in it. I'm not saying it's not a problem. I'm saying it's not something I worry about all the time. Then again I'm also not one of the people on here that runs around screaming the sky is falling 24/7 either. I got on here because I find a lot of the theories discussed here interesting. It doesn't mean I think they are all accurate. If anything I think fluoridating water came about (here anyway) as a misguided project that had good intentions. Problem is ingesting fluoride is not the same as using on just your teeth.

I'm assuming they figured this in already? They claim they could save $600k yearly if they stopped doing it.

Your mouth is very absorbant of things you put in it so is your skin so putting it on your teeth puts it in your body. Same as using sublingual medication under your tongue. Ever noticed how they say not to swallow toothpaste? It definitely isnt because it's so wonderfully healthy they're afraid you won't be able to contain the its ubergoodness.

you ppl with no brains needs to read up on the mineral called Apatite. 1ppm of fluoride is all you need without any adverse effects. Water from natural sources can contain more than 2ppms of fluoride.

In America the level set for fluoride has been set too high which is why the fda has or is reviewing the limit to be reduced..In Europe it has always been set at 1ppm
