In 2007 royal editor Clive Goodman was jailed . The News of the World's covert hacking into voicemail messages of members of the royal family was a big mistake. For the people who dont live in the U.K. Most of us read papers. Rupert Murdoch is a big player and owns The Sun a tabloid. Times and Sunday Times what are broadsheets and the news of the world. Is famed for celebrity scoops. But after the hacking of Prince williams phone.

A step to far. Met launched( ie scotland yard) A big Operation into phone hacking. Rupert Murdoch issued an apology. Then the paper after 168 years in circulation closed. The news of the world had hacked lots of celedrity phones. But after 2006 The royals were pissed.. The Leveson Inquiry. is an ongoing public inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the British press following the News International phone hacking scandal.

the british establishment are now guning for Rupert Murdoch He owns like half of bskyb. And want to by all of it.
But after the News of the World phone hacking scandal would they let him. In the U.K our tv news has to be fair and impartial So Sky news is.Like ITV & BBC And 4&5 news. Our paper dont have to. So like the daily mail and the sun will back the conservative party and the mirror and Guardian back the labour party. So would it matter if he own all of sky.? He all ready owns The Sun Times and Sunday Times

Sky Television was set up by Rupert Murdoch in 1989 struggle financially but Murdoch had faith. And made it approximately now £12.6 billion. Rupert Murdoch has been made a scapegoat And set up So he can never own sky the company he started and son now runs and made it very successful. And saying owning all of sky the will make him to powerful. When the real truth is the british establishment are pissed with him and the labour hate him because the sun backs the conservative party and the sun has a lot of people read in it. And the conservative are pissed over William been haked.

The question is if the news of the world did not hake prince William phone. Would the establishment even care.?

you can't blame murdoch, the brits line up around blocks to buy tabloids so they can see what underwear celebrities are wearing.

i think britain leads the world in tabloids per capita.

he just gave you what you guys want.

you can't eat the pie then complain where the blueberries came from.

It's more to do with how much power one man can have that can influence and steer the sheep into voting for whoever he deems fit.

Who ever the Sun newspaper backs politically, win an election.

Dont the sun newspaper follows the views of it readership. Not Murdoch That's why its is popular. And it normally a conservative paper. And it only went labour after john major gov lost a lot of support. of most people in the mid 1990s Fact is the Labour party hate Murdoch because of the sun dont back them. Labour has the mirror. What allways give them surpport. But would love the sun to be for labour. But the sun has allways be more conservative not because of murdoch because the people who read it are.

Murdoch has kept all the media puppets in line over 9/11 and other official points of view so I can see why the establishment likes him. After seeing the father and son put in front of the phone hacking enquiry, James cannot lie as well as is old man so may be facing some problems with the 'fit and proper person' test. He is still young so there maybe hope for him, but he does need to work on his poker face a lot more.

I live in the UK and don't lap it up at all, in fact the whole thing really confuses me for the following reason...

Nobody I know cares about celebrity gossip...not a-one person. When this whole scandal came to light I had conversations with many people regarding this issue, most people I spoke to buy tabloid for things like sport - like horse racing betting spreads, football, etc.

It's the editors that are confused, it's all been a waste of their time and dignity. Breaking laws and invading privacy because they think people buy this crap for these stories about celebrities - in my experience most people don't care about this stuff. People buy these papers for lot's of different reason...I don't think they buy them for celebrity gossip...for most it's simply a habit.

My parents and grandparents bought the news of the world every sunday...and the sunday mail. About 20 or so years ago these papers contained little celebrity nonsense and mostly actual news. The hilarious and most telling aspect is - nobody seems to miss the news of the world...it was like..."ok, so they don't print that any more, oh well!"

Over the years they've slowly degraded, because somewhere along the lines they hit apon some sensationaliist crap and because people bought it they thought that was what people wanted...people buy this crap more out of habit nowadays than out of interest.

I havent read a tabloid in years...in fact I haven't read a newspaper of any kind in years, nor do I watch the news because the crap they resport on is meaningless and pointless.

That's the most hilarious thing of all, in an attempt to bring in more punters they ended up breaking various laws and in court trying te defend their stupidity...and all for nothing! To bring us sensationalist garbage that nobody cares about...since the late 80's right up 'til now it has gotten more and more absurd...you'd think they'd learn from it but I see no evidence of this, idiots...pure and simple. By idiots I mean the editors not the readers, who, like I said mostly buy this rubbih out of habit...oh, I'm at the shop buying milk and bread, might aswell pick up a sun...ogle page 3 for a bit, see what's on tv later and check out the sport pages...then it can go in the bin where it belongs.

I was not the only one confused by misspelling in your post header, so don't troll my threads just to put me down.

I saw Prince William and figured it might be a British term I was not familiar with, until I actually read your post did I get what you meant.
