You'll have to define disruption because it assumes we've somehow suspended the laws of physics. We didn't. We can't act outside of natural laws. It's not physically possible. Our biological and physiological natures are subject to the same laws that govern particles and atoms.

Assumptions of balance must be phrased within the context of thermodynamics. If they aren't, they become physically meaningless.

Every single animal on the planet. Resources are scarce.

Animals develop territories, produce offspring, and migrate for food. We are their counterparts with the difference being of degree, not kind. That difference in degree is expressed in our ability to conceptualize and calculate consciously. If they were conceptual, like us, they would be genetically driven to do the same.

We violate the natural laws of selection, survival of the fittest... we disrupt the natural ebb and flow of the seasons and migrations of life. We declare war on anything and everything which competes for our sustenance. We erradicate those creatures who threaten our food supplies.

If this were true, we wouldn't exist. We do. It's false.

...that is the real lesson of Genesis. When man ate from the tree of knowledge, he chose himself as god... a god with the power of life and death in his hands... thus our fall from grace where we lived within the boundries of natural slection and population controls.

When man ate from the tree of knowledge God said The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. That was the point. Earlier in Genesis, God states his purpose for us: let us make man in our image. Man made in God's image is to know good and evil.

I don't know about you folks, but there is a certain balance to everything.. We have exceeded the balance, but it is not due to population.

The total surface of land on the earth (ground, not inc water) is: 148,300,000 km2 (57,258,950.11 sq miles).
(Note, this does not account for livable land verses just land).

Total population of the earth is at: 7,019,486,064 people.

Now if you took all the land, and divided it up among each person, not per family, not per couple. PER PERSON.. that breaks down to every person having 5.22 acres of land.. PER PERSON..

Now, since there is plenty of land for people.. The over-industrialization of the planet is what is causing problems. Everything is made is factories, with waste, out of plastic (oil) for the most part.

Part of the problem is the materialism we seem to have become in love with in the world. Move it back from having all these companies making useless crap, to production of necessary items. Yes, this means not making anymore 65" LCD screens, and a crap-ton of stupid cars, a plethora of other junk, and have each person / family work on providing their own means of food. (Yes, more "home gardens" would be good).

This is just a basic, hastily thrown together post. But, it's not necessarily a population issue as it is how we are living as a society.. The ease at which we live our lives now is unsustainable, not the population.

We spend more time pushing papers around and coming up with the next great gadget to sell to the masses then we do worrying about anything else.

This is what has become unsustainable. Excesses in junk, fancy gadgets, are part of the problem.

What is needed is a shift in how we live. Not in who lives, and who is "recycled".

P.s.: For those of you calling for less people, feel free to volunteer to remove yourself first. Dig a hole, and crawl into it, as you obviously bought into the BS being peddled. Thank you very much. Stop drinking the kool-aid from people in lab-coats!
