You want us to let you know if we see anything strange in Michigan? I live in the UP. There are a lot of strange people here.
It makes life fun and interesting.

He might have seen LAVs. Light Armored Vehicles. I used to operate in LAVs and they look simaler to the first pick except they have eight wheels and a gun turret with a 25mm gun. Their are other variants to the LAV as well. Could just be reservists summer training or like you said wildfire fighters. My buddy who is an Army reservist is in Cali fighting fires right now as we speak. But we will keep our eyes open here. I would love to see an LAV roll through here. I miss those IED magnets.

I don't know if this helps and I hope you know what I'm about to describe, but he said they looked like what they used in the movie "Independence Day" in order to transport the missiles to shoot at the UFO.

You know, I bet he saw the Nuclear, Biological, Chemical (NBC) vehicles. Not to freak anyone out but those are used by NBC specialists and have all kinds of detection equipment and things of the like. They don't transport missiles though. In the move the missile was shot from a stealth fighter I believe. But they were in one of those vehicles doing (BDA) Battle Damage Assessment because those vehicles will protect them from the radiation. The vehicles have all kinds of detection equipment inside.

There is a huge ac unit that has to be used to keep the vehicle cool due to all of the equipment being used. We had four or five of those vehicles attached to our Battalion because we were a Mechanized Infantry Unit. I've actually rode around inside those before and received some additional NBC training myself. They do have six wheels and look pretty much like the first picture you posted. I will see if I have any pics of the ones our unit had and post them if I can find them.

My guess on that would probably be that it could be a reserve unit doing their summer training, at least I hope. Thank you for posting that though as anyone should keep a lookout for those vehicles. They also could be heading somewhere to ship out for deployment although they usually do that by railway. Interesting to say the least.

My guess about the fencing ig they are tearing the place down would be to keep the heavy equipment secure. When I was a teenager we used to go around starting bulldozers and playing with them when we were not supposed to. Thank you for helping me research this though. It is much appreciated.

If that were the case the razor wire would not be
facing in would it ? Just curious.

lol. Only Michiganders will understand that. I love the U.P. A bunch of my inlaws live up there right on the Bay de Noc. I can't wait to get back up there sometime this summer. I also love going to Escanaba as well as the Hiawath National Forest.

It's actually concertina wire which is circular like razor wire. Here is one of the photos I took so you can see.

Michigan is kind of unique in that aspect. Not to easy just to pass through like most other states. It sort of does make us a little different breed up here. And we definitely stand our ground up here that's for sure.

Wow, very interesting, thanks so much for taking the time to explain that to me. It would make sense because he saw a big vent on the side, the side he was facing, don't know about the other.

Okay, that being said, would it be unusual for 6-7 of them to be in a group along with a group of 6-7 ambulances, would it be normal or unusual? Lastly, to rule it out, they would not probably need that type of military vehicle to fight a wildfire right, even if it is as big as the one up north here? I would think not, but I don't know

I know they do use the rail system in and out of Ft. Carson at the very least, which is the direction they were coming from.

I'm just not sure if it would be unusual or not. I suppose they could be training by testing the air in the region of the wildfires if that's where they are headed but I'm just not sure. You never know these days.

I just want to say that we have seen plenty of convoys here over the past year and none of them had these vehicles before. It weirded him out so much he wanted me to make sure and mention it here.

the government comes up with new vehicles all the time. Could be for anything from drones to weather they have bottomless pockets and endless imagination to create things. I think the Alpena story was a HOAX and the nuke story had nothing to do with Michigan other than it was close but a bad sensor

a few things,

Michigan is the biggest military war built industry. There is a tank plant not too far. When desert war was brewing, camo tank parts were spotted on trains.

Disable michigan and you disable war toys, or at least a good chunk of the plant in u.s.a

Maybe the Economy or housing market is starting to boom in that area.

Well, things just keep getting stranger. This morning at about 0245 local time I heard two sets of explosions. Each set had two to three booms and both were within a few minutes of each other. They were not fireworks. The booms were much too loud and not distinctive of fireworks, even professional grade fireworks. They were loud enough to rumble across the sky like thunder.

They were loud enough at my house to give me a full on flashback from the war and I can only liken what I heard to that of a large Mortar or Artillery. I went to the state police post about five miles from my house and nobody answered when I rang the buzzer on the door. I have been trying to call the post for an hour now and nobody answers. Not sure what is going on with that.

I am going to continue to try to figure out what the heck it was. Right now I am going to see if any of my neighbors herd it to at least confirm that I am not losing my mind. I will try to update later when I find some answers. Hopefully I will have an answer when I come back to this later.

I woke up with a start around that time swearing it was some sort of loud, booming explosion type noise.
I told my husband and he thought maybe fireworks as people in the area are known for disregarding any firework ordinances and such.
And I told him, this was different. Something about it felt heavier, more like a booming explosive noise.
When we hear fireworks around here, even if it's one of the bigger ones it has a sort of accompanying pop to it. This wasn't like that.

I've been reading through all the posts this morning trying to get a grip on what the op is saying as now I'm beginning to wonder what is up.

NW Indiana reporting again.

This time, instead of military helis, we have had several periods of fighter jets--sorry I don't know the type--flying the same pattern as the helis last week.

From the NE (Michigan area) over to the N/NW (Illinois) mainly Chicago area. Why wouldn't they swoop over Lake Michigan instead of dipping down over our area? I suppose it has to do with topography and coordinates, etc.????

I haven't seen them in my many years here except on very random occasions.

Don't know if this is important or not, but maybe someone can shed light as to whether it is training or something else.

I miss the airbase here in Upper Michigan. I liked watching the jets fly over. Now all we get are commercial airlines and a few small planes. Funny how you get used to hearing and seeing the jets.

Here in Cleveland the past few days has been a "Marines invade Cleveland " event at the airport near downtown .There have been all kinds of mil aircraft flying all over the lake and area for the past few days. Perhaps some of the period aircraft above poster saw was flying to Cleveland for this military event. Just my 2 cents. Also I saw no story linking Detroit as shutting down friday .I went to CBS detroit and all I saw was baseball and hot dogs on there page. No ominous government shutdown. Im not saying your lying but would you care to furnish a link??
