That would depend entirely on the situation.

And of course, you know exactly what this situation is. Because the OP has explained it to us. All sides. In an unbiased manner. You, like she, have taken sides against the teacher because of what she represents to you. You, like she, have no idea what the actual situation is. You have no idea of what disruption the young sister may have been causing in the classroom. She has only her sister's version of what has occurred. You have only her version of that version. Yet, you insist that she is in the right and that it's fine to tell her young sister that paganism is evil because the scriptures say so. That people that think differently are evil because the scriptures say so.

Very well said!! We should just copy and paste this as the answer to everything that is replied. It sums it up perfectly and concisely!

Have you read or studied on the American Educational system?

What books and people have you talked to, to form your opinions, I'm curious?

Again, I would really suggest you read that book, it's free and I gave you a link. deliberatedumbingdown.com...

Charlotte Iserbyt-Thomson is considered an "expert".................I would wager her credentials against yours any day.

A proud heart and closed mind gathers no knowledge.............OHD.

She's a freelance writer who studied business in college...it doesn't say whether she graduated or not, HARDLY an expert!!!!

Discredit the poster when you have nothing to add. You are so very precious.

Only pointing out the truth, if it discredits you, that's on YOUR head, not mine.... and it has

You left out the part about the kind of parents this 10 year old has. I have no idea of the family dynamics involved here. To suggest any of us do is dishonest. My thoughts are based on the information presented from the OP. This is certainly a very complicated situation and we do not have all the facts. However, based on what the OP said about the reasons given to her family this was not an adequate reason for a student suspension. That is my opinion.

Have you even bothered to stop to think that maybe, just MAYBE, the OP was giving you a biased version of what actually happened... you know, since it was her sister and her fault and she was upset that she got shouted at by the mother and she had trouble in school herself via her own admission....
Sorry, but the credibility of the OP is not that good.

You have a Master's Degree in B.S.

Why should anyone believe one word you write on here? You have proven by your posts that you are an intellectual midget.

The difference between you and me is that I was not serious with this post, but see how easy that was....

Isnt that the point of vetting posts?

If the poster is discredited it kind of makes the post pointless.......

Just like verifying evidence either proves or disproves a situation......

I think that adds a lot

I'll go along with that. If this were an isolated incident.
Do you understand that the younger sister has a "history" with the teacher? Do you understand that this was not an isolated incident?

Yet another one here... You want to have a expert verse expert debate or you do you want to stop looking for the bird that's going to swoop down on you and notice that basic education is fundemental? Children need mathematics, science, biology and language subjects. It doesn't really matter if the standard has dropped, the children can still easily pursue any of them further if they want. We live in a society and we shape our society.

We live in a age where you can look up anything online, a age where children are a priority and not just to be seen and not heard. They can pursue whatever they want, they have far more oppertunities now than we ever had.

It's the responsibilty of the parents to make sure their child is getting what they need so before we go pointing fingers we should look at ourselves first.

No offense but why should anyone believe anything you say OVER someone who is educated in said subject....

You changed your tune after issuing a challenge and the challenge was met and overcome.....

You get snarky with someone and when they meet you head on , then all the sudden they are the bad guy?

Hardly upstanding in the least

I don't have any of the details of that history, but yes I think there is something to that. Without more information I cannot make any further determinations.

I'm wondering if Social Services will be getting involved. There are more issues going on here than just a suspension i'm guessing, and an anonymous forum (where everyone is a professor or astronaut according to them) is not the place to seek help.

Thank you Human...

I remember a story I was told about a surfer guru dude in Hawaii who told this tale of being raised by the education system there under US auspices.

He said that he asked the teach why he had to learn english since it wasn't his native tongue? The teacher replied:

You are going to got to school so you can learn english,
so that you can get an education,
so that you can get a degree,
so that you can get a job,
so that you can earn money,
so that you can buy a house,
with a two car garage,
with two cars.

He said thats why he became a surfer guru and teaches people to surf. To repair the damage done to them by the education system and teach them something useful. As in finding themselves.

Love the classic references here. Especially the teacher student battle about "subject matter".

Actually, I have one in Education, one in Physics and a Doctorate in Mathematics, but who's counting....

(actually true this time!)

i completely do not believe you.

in what field of mathematics did you recieve your supposed "doctorate"?
what school?

what was the topic of your dissertation?

what did you contribute to your chosen field of mathematics?

what database can i find a copy of your dissertation?

have you been published?
peer reviewed?

what publications?

your grammar and syntax DO NOT reflect an individual with a Phd.
not at all.

it matters not if you received a math "doctorate" because highly developed writing skills are required for a dissertation.

what follow up research have you done in your field of mathematics?

Really as an educated person it is obvious to me that you are as well. That was the point of my previous post to you.

We simply do not agree on the nuances of some of these issues.
