You not praying and posting this bowdlerised drunk-talk is why we don't have nice things. Sort it out.

Hahah! Love a good drunken rant, as long as it's not me doing it.
You might feel a bit daft in the morning, don't worry about it though. I think drink really messes with your feelings and that's why we often get so angry, you'll feel better when sober, even if you don't have the answers.

Ok, you have seen the down and dirty of humanity (or at least heard the stories).

What have you learned?

What are you willing to sacrifice personally for change?

What are you waiting for?

Please don't "Drunk Dial" ATS.

Yes the world is a horrible place.

Get sober. Calm down. Then discuss.

Please.

I feel your pain, and understand your sadness, which is transposing into anger at all the hatred in this world.

yes we do need to pray, or collectively reach out for a more positive world.

I'm afraid many of the responses I have read to your op, just prove that you are right.

There is a more loving spiritual realm , hang tight, and hopefully something will change the way humanity is living out their lives.

Never mind that - if the buzzkill's this wasted, the others he went out with must be dangerously drunk

All right, well one of my good friends in college was in Iraq one time. They were in a complex and he was manning a mounted machine-gun. A caravan showed up to the gates of the complex, and they didn't have time to react - they thought it was an attack. So the orders came to fire on the caravan, and he unloaded on it.

Next, they had to walk to the scene and shoot the survivors / bodies in the head. It turned out later that they were civilians from a neighboring town that were coming to the complex for peaceful negotiations.

Plus, someone I knew from high school just had his helicopter shot down over Afghanistan.

Well, common sense kind of tells you not to drive up to a military installation unannounced. Especially in a war torn area. I don't feel bad for the people that got dusted, I do feel bad for the people that dusted them. Their conscious must be heavy. A neighbor of mine faced a similar circumstance in Iraq in the 90's. He shot and killed a child. It was either his life or the childs. Self preservation. I have many friends that went to war. After their stint overseas they all now know what a filthy and corrupt government we have. SMH

Yes the world is a dirty, filthy place. Encourage your friends and loved ones not to enlist because they will be killing for the devil basically.

The best we can do is to love one another and teach our children to do the same.

Do as Jesus would do. For real.

"Rant: Let loose some steam and get it off your chest! This is the place to rant about anything that does not attack other members, the staff, or ATS itself"

If it helps the guy to blow off some steam after having a few and hearing about war stories all night from his two best friends, I don't see the harm. Seems like it was categorized well enough, anyways.

As for OP, sorry. I know that doesn't exactly fix it, but you got a community here that cares.

War is hell, and it does change people. I doubt humanity will ever get over the nature of death until the comet comes, the zombies take over, or the return of the messiah. Take your pick.

All the same, the best thing you can do, IMHO, is be that friend those guys remember from back in the day. Give em something to ground em back into the real world, so to speak, instead of the hell of war they suffered.

When soliders get drunk, some like to unload those stories, to relieve stress, just as you did in this thread. All we can do is lend an ear, and a kind heart.

I don't see the harm either, but nothing constructive can happen when overly emotional and presumably drunk. Would love to talk to him about this, just not while intoxicated.

Why are you calling me out? I don't get it.

I promise, there was no "calling out", I'm not that serious a mind. Just adding my two cents. I post what I thought. I'm sorry if it came off the wrong way. I just thought the guy could use an outlet, and sometimes that's ATS, because we're a community, right? That's all it was. Not trying to start a fight. These boards have enough of those as is without us arguing over another man's problems.

There's no problem really... I have no issue here. You seem like a nice person, I had made, at least in my opinion, some pretty innocuous comments, it seemed like you had an issue with me.... And I just didn't get it.

Just would like to interact with the OP, when he is sober, pretty much all there was to my comments.

Thanks for the support friend.

I was obviously drunk but I had bottled up my feelings and thoughts all night so it was simply a case of expressing them on here before I went to sleep

My friends are not proud of it, it was only when they got drunk that they opened up and I've always been a good listener. It is tragic really, I grew up with them, they signed up around the time of 9/11 at age 17, I myself was very close to joining as well.

I didn't want to turn around to them and say I disagree with everything they have done and our nations have done there, it wouldn't get through and they signed up to the army and marines to defend their country.

It's a terrible situation and I just wanted to get it off my chest last night before going to bed
Thanks to those who could see where I was coming from.

Just to add also, my other friend is a policeman and he said that the UK police are preparing for unrest much larger than last year's riots, he wouldn't go into specific details but they are preparing for trouble this summer from what he knows and the training he has had.

My army friend also believes that we are preparing for Iran as well, he said there won't be ground troops in Syria but I asked what are the chances in Iran and he said anything could happen and it is to be expected.

Thanks, that's interesting, would love to know what that's related to if true. Glad to know you're ok anyway, thanks for posting back!
