Between the BLM and the recorder's office, you can generally figure out the free territory. For instance, the Nye County recorder's office confirmed that the "no trespassing" sign near route 6 heading up to Halligan Mesa is illegal. I suspect they would say the new restrictions on stopping your vehicle in that stretch of Tybo Road adjacent to Base Camp is also illegal. It is a public road.
The deal is anyone can put up a sign. What matters is the legal force behind that sign. The Nye County sheriff probably doesn't give a damn if you drive up to Halligan Mesa as long as you stay outside the fenced off land. I verified this land is considered private by the Nye County Recorder's office. But Lincoln County is another story. The law is whatever they make up. The cammo dudes are in cahoots with the Sheriff's Department. They don't need no stinkin' badges.

What officials gave you the value of the fine? The camo dudes rarely talk to anyone. Did they send the deputy?
I'm sure the fine is in that range, but if what you mean by officials are the staff of the Little Aleinn... well they often have incorrect information. It is a good place to get some ice for the cooler, and sometimes the food is OK, but don't take their advice to heart.
